Hi Evie! Oh, this eye is amazing! I feel as if it’s staring out right at us, but it’s not frightening, because your colors are so bright and cheerful. I can picture it on a kindly magical creature, perhaps in a fantasy we’ve not yet read. I wonder what the rest of its body would look like. How did you give it’s skin such a natural texture? I hope you’ll share how you created this when I see you. Love you lots, granddaughter! xoxo Grammy

Hi Evelyn, its your Papi. The reflection in the eye makes it look so real it actually scares me. The eyeball sits deep in the socket and I can imagine it blinking. I also like the rough texture of the skin. Does this eye belong to a lizard? The precious stones are fascinating and add some glitz to your piece. Congratulations on a very nice job. I love you very much, Evie.

Hi Eveloni, it's your poppy. You really did a nice job on this blueprint project. I was particularly fascinated with the idea that the smoke rising from the chimney floats into the sky and merges with the stars.......at least that's what I think it looks like. I also love the blue background. That is how real blueprints look. I can see what look like separate bedrooms, a bathroom, a bedroom, a stairwell and what might be a beautiful dining room. What I wasn't sure about was the room with waves in it. Is that an indoor lap pool. What a neat idea. I love you Evie and really enjoyed playing that drawing game at your house recently. You were quite good at it and that is because you are an excellent artist.

Hi Evie, Is this a dragon eye? It's amazing! You put such detail into it with the scales and the eye socket and beautiful color contrasts between the black of the eye, pink lid and blue and white accents. Just beautiful! Keep up the great work, Evie! I love you so. XO Your Nana

Hi Evie, I’ve played your video 5 times so far, and each time seeing those mini-hoopla hoops pouring out of the box makes me laugh! I imagine teeny tiny people falling out with them and splattering the rainbow milk out of the bowl as they play. What a fun cereal you’ve created! I wonder what flavor they are...Your colors hint that they’d taste like various fruits, and how yummy that would be! Thank you for sharing this, granddaughter! You bring smiles?? Love you, Gramma

Dear Evie, Your poppy is a lovely work of art! The way you blended your reds, pinks, and oranges, with your darker shades in the center, makes it pop out from the deep purple background. These soft, glowing colors give the petals a smooth, velvety look that make me want to touch them! Evie, this piece truly reflects your sense of color and dimension. Thank you for sharing it. I so love seeing your artistic growth, and I so love you! Gramma

Evie Rose, its your Papi. I am so glad you are back in school because now I get to see your artwork all the time. I love your latest piece. Is it suppose to be you or your mom. The eyes are piercing and give real life to your subject. I love the perfect symmetry of the hair, facial features and shoulders. I am so proud of you and love you so much.

Hi Evie, WOW! I am so impressed that you can make a video! It is so cool! I love the way your name "Evie!" dances around the page. I really like the way the colors fade into each other from left to right. Which superfoods are these - cranberries or cherries or what? I try to eat superfoods and I know you do too! Love you tons! Hi Evie Rose, I just saw this drawing on the wall at your house!!! So pretty! It reminds me of Georgia O'Keefe paintings. Very authentic looking and although the main color red is bright you brought a softness to it by using oranges and yellows. You also bring out the dimension and depth of the flower in your darker coloring in the middle. Very well done, Evie! Love you, Nana

Dear Evie Rose, This is quite an impressive unicorn constellation! It shines so bright in the starry night sky! I live the spiral horn, long mane and bushy tail. Your unicorn seems to be dancing, too! Great colors and great proportions! Congratulations on another masterpiece. You are developing a beautiful and graceful style in your drawings. Love you, Nana

Evelyn Rose.....it's your Papi here. I could have guessed that you would have chosen a unicorn. I know that is your favorite character. I can just picture you riding your unicorn across the beautiful constellation you have drawn. I love the mane and tail on your unicorn. They are sturdy and strong and flow in the wind. I also love how you have highlighted the outline of your unicorn. You seem to have created a backlight that just makes the unicorn come to life. You really are becoming a very accomplished artist. I love you very much.

Evie Girl: When I study your painting I imagine you surfing right over your brother. I love your long hair and the way it just lights up in the sun. You are strong, active and athletic and Henry Boy is just lounging on his float. Be careful not to crash into him. I love the colors that you used for the inner tube. You made it look like a real lifesaver good enough to eat. I also love the combination of yellow and orange you painted the sky in the background. It is probably going to be a beautiful sunset. Thanks for sharing this with me. It is a very fun painting and does not scare me like your brother's did. I love you.

Evelone, its your Papi. I love your latest piece. It reminds me of a southern plantation. I love the balcony and the palm trees but I can't tell if there are mountains or an ocean behind the structure. The girl reminds me of you and little Georgia. I love you very much.

Hi Evie, What a beautiful watercolor painting! I like the detail in the sidewalk and how it gets narrower to give perspective and dimension to the drawing. How did you get your photo in the picture? It looks like you are in Florida with palm trees and an overhanging wraparound porch on the 2nd floor. Such great ideas! Congrats! Love, Nana

Evoleani, I love you so much. I really like your clay figure. I love the relaxing pose, the color and detail of her bathing suit and especially her ponytail. It reminds me of you and little JoJo. Keep up the good work. I am very proud of you.

Dear Evie, WOW! Your sculpture looks so lifelike with her arms under her head and one knee up. I like the way you did her ponytail to the side and the cute swimsuit. It shows a lot of creativity and attention to detail. Your weaving is also very even and colorful. You did an amazing job! I bet you would enjoy learning how to hand weave and knit. You can have Jackie or Brookie show you at Christmas. Love and hugs, Nana

Hi Evie! Wow, I just saw your landscape, with hills leading to the mountains. I’m amazed at how you showed distance and depth, with the mountains and roads getting smaller as they get father away. The colors you created are beautiful. They remind me of how the setting sun sometimes makes our sky many shades of violet. I notice lots of different textures and patterns on your painting, too. Will you tell me how you made them? Thank you for sharing this art, Granddaughter! Love ‘n hugs, Gramma

Hi Evie, I really liked your colorful Matisse fish globe. The ballerina on the shelf and paintings on the wall give a lot of dimension to the work. At first I thought there was no fish because the cat ate it. Then I read that you animated the fish and it is a swordfish! So cool! I am so very proud of you and your creative artwork. Love, Nana

Evie Girl: I hope you're enjoying Spring break. I love your 2nd Statute of Liberty drawing. I couldn't read the title on the book or what you were holding up in the air and then I figured out it was a unicorn. So neat because I know how much you love unicorns. I love the long eyelashes, the ruffles in your dress, your bangs and your beautiful eyes and smile. You seem so alive. I can't wait to see you at Easter. I love you sweetie. Your Papi

Evie Rose.....its your Poppy. I love this work. I'm not sure what it is supposed to be but I envision a winding road through a mountain range in the Rockies. I sense the moon on the horizon. I love the muted pastel colors and just want to sit back on my motorcycle and enjoy the ride. I love you sweetie.

Evie, your statue is beautiful! My eyes want to roam all this painting, there’s so much to see. It’s SO easy to tell at a glance that you absolutely LOVE unicorns! You not only read about them you create them! The one in your hand is beautiful, its mane and tail so flowing. I see you decided to place your statue in downtown Chicago-a great choice, so thousands of visitors can enjoy it! I loved this artwork and I love you! Gramma

Hi Evie! Your snow angel just showed up on my iPad. This looks so like you, with your lovely smile and big blue eyes. Your jacket and mittens are full of designs, and that pom pom pops! This collage reminds me of Leo Lionni books we’ve read. He loves making collages, too. Will you please tell me how you made your figure fit the snow angel shape? It looks so real! Thank you for sharing this, Evie. Love you lots, Gramma

Dear Evie, What an adorable snow angel and what a clever way to recycle materials. I really like the details in the coat and mittens, the swirls in the snowpants and the pompom on your hat. Congratulations on another awesome art piece. Love Nana

Hi Evelyn, I just saw your skeleton, and that has to be a great gymnast! It reminds me of you when you show us how you do the splits. It’s amazing how you made it fit the paper, too, almost as though the feet are pressing against the sides. Did you rub some chalk or pastels to make your ground and moon so soft? This art sure made me smile! Love you, Gramma

Hi Evie, I just saw your puppy! Did you use paint or markers to create all those shades of purple? It’s green nose and pink eyes show up so well, they pop! I wonder what-or who- it’s looking at! Maybe you? Thank you for sharing this. Love you, Gramma

Evie, I was so excited when I saw your Poppies art! My friend has poppies growing in her garden, and yours look like her real ones! The bright orange-red flowers pop out from the green grass, and they look as though they are floating! Did you look at real poppies when you painted yours? This painting makes me smile. Thank you, granddaughter, for sharing it! Love, Gramma

Hi Evie, What a beautiful butterfly you would be! And you would so love to fly in the Paris sky, especially around the Eiffel Tower. And if I were a butterfly, I'd join you! I see you made your butterfly wings symmetrical, just like real ones are. That's a lovely design, Evie. Thank you for sharing this, but please don't fly away! Love, Gramma

Hi Evie, I love your portrait, with your blue eyes, ponytail, and beautiful smile! I see you're wearing a medal for gymnastics. You've learned so much! I remember taking you to gymnastics classes, and it was so much fun seeing you swinging from the high bars and rings, balancing on the beam, and performing on the mats. Maybe I can come watch you again. Thank you for sharing this artwork and all your other art! I love you, granddaughter!!! Gramma (or Grandmama, as you've been calling me!)

Hi Evie Girl, I really like your nest and eggs. I was amazed that you were able to fit three eggs in your basket. It must be bigger than Henry's because he was only able to put two eggs into his basket. I think you should both bring your baskets by Aunt Kim and Uncle Jan's house for Easter so that the entire family can see what nice work the two of you do. I love you sweetie.

Dear Evie, What a beautiful painting! This looks like one Rousseau would have made. He often painted animals, especially lions, in their jungle habitat. Your bird looks so content surrounded with green plants and leaves. You created so many shades of green, too! I notice all the detail on the bird's wings. That must have taken lots of patience and care, Evie. Thank you for sharing your lovely artwork with us! Love Grammy

Evie, your panda looks so happy to have climbed the bamboo tree! That's a great smile on her face. Now she's ready to munch some lunch! Your bright green branches and leaves really pop out from the purple background. You used your artistic skills, not only to draw such a cute panda, but to so carefully cut out each part and arrange it just so! Thank you for sharing this artwork. Love you lots, Gramma

Evie Girl: I love your latest work but I can't figure out what the bird has in its hand. I was wondering if you intentionally obscured what the bird was holding so that we could imagine the different things it could be. In any event, I really like the way to drew your subject and I love the colors you used and hold you molted the background. I also like the way the bird seems to be looking around the back of its head to see me. I love you very much.

Evie Girl: It's your Papi again. I absolutely LOVE your latest painting. I love the smile on the octopus' face and the way she is looking out of the side of her face. I also love the way you painted the octopus' ink.....and the blue and purple colors that you used. I also love all of the fish and stars and hearts and flowers that you painted in the background. Very interesting work. I love you very much, Evie, and can't wait for you to have a sleep over by Nana and Papa's townhouse.

Evie Girl: I love your latest art work. I can feel how soft the feathers are. I really like how you defined the face by drawing a ring of feathers around it. You have actually given the bird character. I also love how advanced you have drawn your tree limbs. I'm not sure if there is snow on the tree or whether it is just glistening from the sun. The shadows on the underside make the tree look real. You did a really nice job on this project. I love you angel.

Evie Girl, When I first saw your most recent painting it reminded me a little bit of Van Gough's Starry Night.....except it looks like your painting should be called starry moon. Your work is very interesting and I enjoy looking at it. I also love the muted colors that you have chosen. Keep up the wonderful work. You are very talented. I love you.

Hi Evie, I am really impressed with these expressions in your art work. You use everything from the eyes, eyebrows and mouth to create these emotions and they are spectacular!!! You also drew them with a single pencil line which is amazing!! Well done little princess!! Love you so! XO Nana

Evie Girl, your photo strip reminds me of the photo booths I used to go to in the shopping malls. I group of friends would go into a small booth, cram onto a stool, close the curtain and put our money in. The camera would then start clicking and the flash would be very bright. We would all make different faces. A couple of minutes later the photo strip would come out of the machine and we would all look over each other shoulders to see the funny faces me made. You seem to have captured all of the different faces we used to make and your drawings are very realistic. The next time you come over by Nana and Papa I am going to take you to the mall and try to find a photo booth so we can take pictures all together. I love you sweetie.

Evie Girl, I love your latest painting.....you have chosen some very interesting colors. The background is very gloomy and the puddle of water looks messy....like a coffee stain. I sense a little chill in the air and that is probably why your subject has pulled her umbrella down low around her head. The fact that I can't see her face makes the painting that much more bewildering. I would imagine the only way she can sense where she is walking is by looking down at the ground. That creates a lot of suspense. You did a very nice job here. I like the way your artwork is becoming more and more sophisticated and subject to greater interpretation. I love you very much and hope we can have a sleepover real soon. Maybe we can watch Red Flyer.

Evie Rose, it's your Papi. I love your new work. It reminds me of the very colorful fish that Nana and I see in Hawaii when we go on vacation. I am going to ask your Mom and Dad if they would be interested in going to Hawaii with the cousins. It would be a lot of fun and you will get so many ideas of other subjects you could paint. I love you.

Evie Girl: It's your Poppy. I love your lady bug. The contrast of the dark green, dark red and black really draw me into the painting. It looks like it is about to fly away with its wings spread open, yet it also seems to be cranking it neck to look back at me. I really like the backdrop. How did you get it to look the way it does. It is really rich and I love it. I love you.

Oh Evie! Your Cezanne's apples painting is beautiful! They look so real - the colors on the rims of the apples and the curve at the stem really give them a three dimensional look. I really like the pink squiggly background, too! You are a wonderful artist! Love, Nana
