The composition of the drawing uses the rule of thirds really well. I also enjoy how the weed is off center and takes up the whole page.

The symbol of butterflies matches really well with this quote. The perfect symmetry of butterflies fitting into the theme of perfection. Butterflies are difficult to catch with your bare hands, making perfection a fleeting butterfly. The font of the letters fit well with the art, the tail of the letters mimic the ending of butterfly wings. The colors are close together on the color wheel, making them similar hues. This creates a calm atmosphere with less contrast, but the dark black outline creates a contrast, showing where the eyes should look at, basically making an emphasis. The word “perfection” being slanted gives the piece more dynamics and creates movement through the piece. It breaks up the normal lines that are written horizontally and kept in the vertical direction.

I love the fonts you added onto this piece. I love the different textures you gave the butterfly, almost reminding me of the fair butterfly versus the grinch! I feel as though this piece has a story to tell, the fair butterfly and the grinch butterfly in harmony and dancing, relating to the quote that perfection will never be reached and we should embrace what we are. I love how the quote itself guides me through the piece, from the top to the bottom, the word “perfection” pouring down the artwork. Awesome job Eve!!! (90° now.)
