Dear Ella I love this little girl. She reminds me of a doll that Mary Alice had when she was a child. I think that she is wearing sunglasses, but it is really a butterfly that landed on her forehead. And it is a great butterfly.

Ella, what a beautiful rabbit. And he has such long ears. Grandma, aunt Mary Alice, your Dad and myself used to raise all kinds of rabbits. Some were very small with short ears and some were very big with long ears. Your rabbit looks like a Flemish giant, one of the biggest we raised. The sky is so blue with no smog! It's that blue in Colorado after a storm and a cold front. Are those snowflakes? If they are, then is must have been a cold front! Have you named your rabbit? When your Dad was ab out your age, I read a rabbit story, called Watership Down, to him and Mary Alice. We would read a few pages every night. It was the story of a group of rabbits that had to leave their field to find a new home. The big rabbit in that story was called Bigwig, and he was a fighter. Later, the story was made into a cartoon movie. You Mom may be able to find it on Netflix. It's a wonderful story about adventure, leaving home, making new friends, fighting for what is right, loyalty and heroism. Sometimes it is sad in some parts with the Black Rabbit of Inlee. We also read another story by the same writer called The Plague Dogs. It was the story of two dogs who escape from a laboratory where they were test dogs. Ask your Dad if he remembers those two stories. Wow. Your rabbit picture reminded me of all that. Grandma and I saw lots of people and children at the Moore County historical association Fall festival last week. She demonstrated how people spun wool to make yarn for clothes over 200 years ago, and I demonstrated what medicine was like 150 years ago during the Civil War. We had lots of fun and over 960 people came. I look forward to seeing more great pictures from you. Love, Grandpa.

Ella, I have been looking at your artwork and I can see that you had fun making this piece. Are those little ants that you drew on it? Let me tell you what it reminds me of. On each end there may be a potato chip with an ant sitting on each one. At the top of the picture it reminds me of small round crackers with a green olive stuffed with a red pepper! This reminds me of a plateful of snacks, but we will need to eat thim quickly before the ants carry them off to their ant-hills for dinner! You are so clever! Love, Grandpa

Wow Ella. Your Dad and his sister, Aunt Mary Alice, used to have a tall rooster like the brown hen you drew. His name was Frank and he would chase your Dad and Mary Alice when they went outside. I hope your Dad is not frightened by your tall Hen! Great job. Love Grandpa Matt
