That is definitely the spitting image of my friend Alan. It makes me happy to see his likeness captured so well. This is why I love to look at good art, it communicates emotion. This piece in particular conveys a certain kind, lighthearted sweetness behind the weathered face of this grizzled old navy vet turned boat guy.
