We had SO much fun making this picture & hanging it in our living room window today as part of a fun village-wide "Walk-about Art Scavenger Hunt." She was given the prompt of "dog," and I was given "birds on a telephone line." Each artist makes their image about 8x10 so it can be seen from the street & you can render it however you'd like - draw, paint, mixed media, sculpture, etc. People can go onto the Facebook page and get the list things to look for & then walk around through the neighborhoods, checking them off the list. It was a great way to build community & connectedness during these tough times of social/physical distancing & the Covid-19 pandemic. I added a few pics after this one so you can see the 3 photos we used to guide our rendering of her. And I shared my fun pic too. ?? We looked at a few different photos of our pup, Rosalie, to see the different shapes that make up her body, how her legs bent, the ratio and spatial placement for her eyes and nose on her face, the scale with her ears, etc. We drew a template for each shape on bright yellow paper, cut it out and then used it trace the shape on black paper. Then we assembled the shapes like a puzzle, continuing to use the photo as a guide. It was a great activity for art, occupational therapy, creativity & stress relief. She worked really hard on it, on & off for about an hour and a half. She did a great job and we're so proud of her! ??

Maddy & I had SO much fun doing the "Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems" on the Kennedy Center site at 1 pm each day. This was the 1st one on 3/16. And to clarify, she wrote "Mom," as she wanted to give it to me. So it was more like "who this is going to," instead of who this is. LOL!

Oooh, this is a cool one, Peanut! I like the different shapes mixed with the lines. It almost looks like written music to me. The green shapes are like the notes and the lines are like the staff lines that music is written out on. Then the green and the black curly cues almost look like bass clef or treble clef symbols. We'll look at some written music and I'll show you the similarities. Love it! Love, Mommy -- Sommer
