Hi, Thomas. It's cold and rainy outside as I'm looking at your picture of a nice steaming cup of hot chocolate (or is it coffee for your mom?). Whatever it is, it helps me feel warm and happy--as do your smile and hugs. Maybe we can have a cup of hot chocolate together sometime soon. Lots of love, Nana

Hey Thomas, this is really cool looking. I like how it still looks like it's spinning eve though it is sitting still. Nice work.

So cool! The next time I see you, I want you to tell me exactly how you made this and what you learned from it mathematically. Can't wait to do this with my class! Keep up the good work buddy. Love you!

Hi, Thomas. I have enjoyed looking at all your artwork, and this eagle is no exception. The head is really realistic looking, and I like the way that you've made the background so colorful to make the eagle stand out. Since eagles don't have a lot of bright colors like other birds, you made a good choice with the background to make your drawing even more interesting. Your eagle's eye looks a bit like a heart, and we Americans do love our eagles! Much love to you and keep up your good artwork. [But maybe your typing could us a little work :)]. Nana

Hey Thomas, this is really cool. I wonder about the name Ugly...is that from the book Ugly or what made you think of that name for this particular piece of art? If I was naming it, I think I would choose "AWESOME." Mom

Thomas, your work really does look like a Monet painting with the muted colors and bold brush strokes! I like the way your fence separates the green grass from the brown earth but also lets them join between the fence posts. The little red and green spots in the brown area add a lot of interest to your painting. Are they flowers? tomatoes? That's another Monet touch that makes us use our imaginations. Keep up the good work! Lots of love, Nana

Thomas, this is really cool. It looks like a neat fence line and a barren field minus a couple of few tomatoes.

Thomas, I really like your snowflake, which is also a hexagon! You did a great job of cutting that hexagon shape and all the little holes (not an easy thing to do). All those cut-outs remind me of some of the fancy handwork that your great-great grandmothers used to do--I've always thought that it is beautiful. Much love always, Nana.

Thomas, I think this is your best artwork so far. You are turning into a very good artist. Your ship looks like a Viking ship. The dragon head is really cool. I like the yellow and red sail blowing in the wind. Your sunset is beautiful. I can't wait to see your next creation. Love, Mimi

Thomas, WOW!!!!!!!!!! This is an amazing piece of art! I absolutely love your fire-breathing dragon, your detail on the ship, the wave coming up over the side, and your really beautiful skyline. I believe this is one of your best pieces of artwork yet! Keep up the good work, buddy!

Wow, Thomas! I got hungry when I saw your this artwork. When I first saw it, I thought you had made something out of lots of flavors of icing or ice cream on a cookie, complete with a cherry on top. Yum! Then I saw that it's made of clay--probably not very yummy. But it's still very pretty and fun to look at. Lots of love, Nana

When you were in preschool you wanted to be superman. You are a super man! I think this is a really great piece of artwork. I agree with Nana...it's telling a story without you having to say a word! I like pictures like this because they allow your imagination to go wild. Great job! Love you!

Thomas, I love this artwork. Your bear is very expressive even though you just see it's profile. My favorite part is the way you did the mountains and kept everything except the sky white. The contrast is striking and I love the colors you chose. Love you!

Hi, Thomas, This picture reminds me of some of the art of Faith Ringgold. She's an illustrator who has won awards for her art. You might enjoy looking at some of her picture books. I think that your artwork should win an award too! In this picture you make the parts fit together like a quilt that tells the story of flying over a city. It tells a story because it shows action even though the picture is standing still! (I like your picture better than Faith Ringgold's.) Lots of love, Nana

Hi, Thomas! I just saw this picture, and I love it! The way your pieces of paper are lined up, especially the green and yellow at the bottom gives your picture depth (making part of the picture look far away and part up close--ask Dad or Mom to help explain). Good artists learn to add depth to their pictures. The colors are lovely. Much love, Nana

Oh, Thomas! What a neat picture! All that snow makes me feel cold, but then your bright colors of the Northern Lights make your picture cheerful. It looks as if you made a picture the way that Eric Carle does with layers of paper and watercolors. Maybe someday we'll be buying your books too. Much love, Nana

Hi, Thomas, You've been busy with lots of neat artwork. I like the happy light circles that look like clouds in this one. They catch my eyes and lead me to look around the whole picture. They work kind of like a corral to keep all the other colors in place on the page. Keep up the good work. Lots of love, Nana

Hey Buddy, I really like this butterfly. Butterflies are Great Nannie's favorite. I like the way you used some bright colors alongside neutrals. It really made the bright colors pop. I am so grateful for the way you're working hard!

Hi, Thomas. I had a hard time picking one of your pictures to write about. I really like them all. I especially like the way that you use bright colors. This picture doesn't have bright colors, but it makes me happy to look at it because it has your hand in it. It looks as if flowers are growing out of your hand, so it makes me think of all the kind and good things that you do with your hands and of all the ways that you make us happy, just as flowers do. I love you!
