"Painted Pears." The colors in your pear are very pretty, and remind me of the colors of the tree leaves in the Fall. You got some experience mixing colors...and isn't that fun?

"Warm and Cool Cactuses." This is so interesting, Cole. You used Mod Podge to adhere a paper towel to the bottom of your paper to make it look like sand. That is so interesting! You have good-looking cactus there, my friend. I like the cool colors on your cactus and the warm colors in your sky.

"Black and White Paint Pattern Rockets." In my email, I just saw the top of this at first. I thought it was going to be a mountain or a rocket! The snippet I read where your teacher described how you completed this project says that you had to paint freehand with your white paint; you couldn't sketch out your design with a pencil. That makes it a bit more difficult. You did a very nice job.

"My First Print!" What an interesting project, Cole. You learned how to carve a design on foam? How fun! And then used ink or paint to print 2 copies of the same design! I'm impressed. I don't know if you're familiar with Dr. Seuss books and his artwork, but your design reminds me of a Dr. Seuss illustration. Very nicely done. :)

Kandinsky Prints. I hope that you enjoyed seeing some of the artwork of Kandinsky. I like some of his abstract artwork. Your choice of cool colors is very nice. It looks like you might have had fun with this one, with the scrapers and stamps and lids and cardboard. This is a fine piece of abstract artwork, Cole.

Very nice piece, Cole. I hope that your teacher showed you some of the artwork of Jasper Johns. Your artwork here is a terrific piece inspired by the work of Jasper Johns. I like the blocks and letters. And your choice of colors is excellent. This may be my favorite piece of your artwork so far! Keep up the good work!

Beautiful apple, Cole! I see the different kinds of lines you drew: straight lines, curvy lines, lines with circles around them, zigzag lines. You chose beautiful colors. If I could name your apple, I would call it a Fiesta Apple. Great work!

Rainbow Cakes. It sounds as if this picture required a lot of work: coloring, outlining, adding designs, then cutting out and pasting. Wow! Well, it was worth it because your rainbow cake is beautiful!

Cut Lines. So this was the first time this year that you painted. You did an excellent job! I have to say that this is my favorite piece because you have used such rich, beautiful colors -- and lots of them! Your black straight lines and wavy line and your black circle add a terrific finish to your rainbow. Great work!
