Trip, the hard hard shadow for your pumpkin and the background for your subject suggests a strong source of light from a sun high in the sky. You say you 'messed up' yet your drawing is successful as it captures the natural, organic quality of an oddly shaped pumpkin! Artists learn to work with their 'mistakes', and this one works to your advantage! It gives your drawing a unique and interesting perspective. Well done!
