This is such a nice painting. I love all of the details and shape of the birch tress, they really look life-like. These colors are amazing together.

What a beautiful picture. The detail on the trees is fantastic and so is the shadowing. You continue to amaze me!
- Nana on March 4, 2020

Hmmm, I wonder who this could possibly be? Is this you dressed up as someone at your school? No of course it isn’t, it’s the real deal! Great job! I am sure he loved it ??

Wow!!! I love this snowman and all of the details like shadowing and giving him dimension. This looks like it could be my next Christmas card! And it so clear that he’s having a great time in the snow. Well done Sophia!

What a fantastic job you did finishing the picture of a tiger! I bet it was pretty easy since the tiger is your favorite animal. Thank you so much for sharing it with me.
- Nana on December 18, 2019

The silhouette of that tree is soooo very creepy! And I bet if it was in color and not a silhouette that would be a bright red Pennywise balloon?!? Very haunting-well done Boo!
- Nana on November 6, 2019
That tree swing looks so lonely on that hillside....and the balloon floating away makes it even more sad. The tree is amazing with all of the detail - it almost looks like it’s going to reach up and grab the balloon before it gets away. Love the colors.
- Rita on November 6, 2019

I absolutely love this picture. The peacefulness of the dolphins in the moonlight is beautiful. This picture is all WOW!!!
- bernie on October 30, 2019

This is really really cool. I love how you engraved the C and all the textures and shades there are. It is great that your art class is more than just drawing pictures. I hope you had fun doing this project! As always, great job Sophia!

Of course it will be fun and exciting-you are the best part of this year! You are in your last year at Jarrettown Elementary and all the younger kids will look up to you! I know you are going to have a great year, enjoy every minute of it.

YUM!!!! That looks delicious. How many different flavors are there? And you have a perfect cherry on top, too! Are you going to share that with anyone or eat it all by yourself?!?!

Looks yummy. Is that a pepper, tomato and some cheese? It looks like the crust was made from blue corn meal- like the blue corn bread at Mad Mex! Very cool, I would take a bite! ??

Sophia, your drawing is amazing! At first I thought you cut out balls and pasted them on the paper, but wow oh wow, was I surprised when I took a closer look. These 3 dimensional balls looks very real. You did a great job in creating shadows and curving the ball to make them look like they are not flat. Brilliant!
-- Bernie

What an interesting project! When I first looked at the picture on the phone I thought it was a beehive, guess I was wrong, huh! Does it hold water? How did you make it? Did you paint it or was that the color of the clay? I think it is very cool!

elephants are mom moms favorite !!
-- steven
- on May 16, 2018
I love your Salvador Dali Elephant! The big body of the elephant with the long stick-like legs is very surreal and very imaginative. The background colors you chose are very dream-like against the brown land. This picture is beautiful!
-- Bernie
- on April 18, 2018
Wow your elephants are amazing! They look just like the ones Dalí painted with their long spindly legs. How would those legs ever hold such a big beautiful animal like an elephant? It would be really cool to ride an elephant like that!

Sophia, did you know that I absolutely LOVE Salvador Dali!! The Eddie is awesome (ask me later about why I call it Eddie). I want to hop right on its back and see the whole world. Are they flowers that the Eddie is carrying?
-- Rita

Is glap the sound of splashes of paint hitting the paper? Or is it the sound of a butterfly flapping its wings so fast that its dots seem to fly off its wings? Or perhaps, glap is the sound of pop art being made! I love the yellow, blue and green color combination.

What a fun winter scene. Sledding, skiing and snowboarding looks like fun! Even the snowman looks like he is enjoying himself. And after a day in the snow you can get warm by the fire or hang out in your awesome cabin.
-- Bernie

I love the log cabin. Is that you and Ethan snowboarding and sledding? I would be by the campfire getting warm in all of that snow. brrr I bet Aunt Rita, Uncle Neil and Nate helped to build that snowman.

That is a big gift for Ethan! That box is big enough to fit a big sister inside. I like how you used light and dark color to show the brightness and shadow on the box - it really does look like it is 3 dimensional. And the combinations of red and green really do make it look like Christmas!
-- Bernie
- on January 3, 2018
Is that a package for Ethan? I bet you could hide your dogs in there. I love the decorative paper and the big bow. Your tree is waiting for the packages to go under it.

I really love your Tree of Life! The gold color makes your picture shine and the hidden details (nature, math, food and a monkey!) really shows a lot about what you like and who you are. Your frame is really cool, too.
-- Bernie

That is a fantastic gold tree, showing us things that are important to you in life. When you come to my house make sure to check out the peacock tapestry hanging over the couch- that is a Gustav Klimt drawing also.

This silhouette really glows, it looks like you are shining a flashlight behind your creepy cemetery fence with the scary pumpkin. I also like that you used white crayons on the bat, ghost and grave stones, they look really spooky against the black background.

Yummy - I love cake - that looks delicious and you can wash it down with a milkshake. I think I'll take the Twix for the ride home before someone else (who is looking over the table) takes it. I really like the frame you made, too.

I love this picture and how up close the flower is, it reminds me of Georgia O'Keefe's paintings. The colors are amazing and the different layers of the flower petals and leaves show the depth of the flower. And the butterfly seems to really like it, too! I can't wait to hear what you learned about Georgia O'Keefe's beautiful paintings.

Bessie looks very happy flying and waving (even the dolphin is happy that she is flying). I like her blue plane, did you pick the color of the plane or did Brave Bessie fly a blue plane? The propeller looks like it is moving in circles, I really like how you drew that to make it seem like it is moving. And, I think your sky looks incredible! It makes me almost want to fly a plane too. Good thing Bessie was the first brave woman to set the path for the rest of us.

Wow - that is a fantastic dragon! And, it is just in time to celebrate the Lunar New Year - the Year of the Rooster! The colors in the background are very bright, I think it looks like jewels glittering behind the dragon. I like how you colored the dragon in different colors, I can imagine him moving and the colors change. Your dragon is very ferocious, does he breath fire, or is he a friendly dragon?

Wow - this really reminds me of New Year's Eve. I like that you used string, glitter and colored paper to make the picture, as well as drawing people and the New Year's Eve ball. I can almost see the ball dropping and hear the firecrackers. The fireworks in the sky are so bright against the dark blue sky, it really looks like a celebration is going on.

Cool snowman - I really like his blue hat and your snowflakes are very unique. I like that the snowman is casting a shadow. Great Native American Sophia! I think her braid and feathers really make her authentic. The colors you used are very warm and feel like Fall to me. She looks very happy to be posing with that beautiful sky and sunset behind her. I wonder what she's carrying on her back in that sling?

That is a cool fence, I think it looks like the fence in my yard, hey, is that my fence? The scarecrow seems to be enjoying the beautiful Autumn day, I really like his bright yellow face and straw feet. I think he scared the cat, or is she just looking for a pile of leaves to jump in?? There don't seem to be many leaves, so someone must have raked them all up. Too bad for the cat.
-- Bernie
- on November 9, 2016

That is a really spooky castle - even the cat is frightened! The ghosts are really scary - but I think you are brave enough to enter the castle and capture that red flag so you can take over the castle from the ghosts. And I think that pumpkin is really you in a costume, trying to trick the ghosts :)
-- Bernie
- on November 9, 2016

That is an awesome scarecrow. Did you use your clothes to make it?

There are so many planets to choose from for your space flight. Which one did you visit?
-- Bernie
- on November 17, 2015

Sophia - That is a beautiful, majestic tree, so it is sad that it has to lose its leaves for Winter, but it will take a nap and then grow lovely new leaves in the Spring. Did you and Harper clean up the leaves, or jump in the pile of leaves? I think jumping in the leaves is much more fun than raking them!

I love sunflowers and I think Van Gogh is a very talented artist. I think you are also an excellent artist. I can't tell from the picture who you drew on the flower pot - is that Ethan or you?

Sophia, your artwork just keeps getting better and better. You did a fantastic job creating Van Gogh's sunflower with your own spin. The yellow color is so nice and sunflowers are so pretty for summer. These flowers feel like they are jumping off of the page by breaking out of their frame. I also like how you place your name on each piece of art that you create in different places, its fun trying to find it each time. Love, Rita

Sophia. I love this bug's triangle shaped head and curly tail. And I really like the colors you choose especially for the leaf and the blue part of the bug. I also think it's is really cool that you spelled your name in the leaf. I hope I have bugs like this in my garden soon! Love Rita
