What a beautiful Winter painting. A classic image silhouetted against a giant moon with falling snow. Falling snow that's laying on top of the branch. The cardinal with very specific design characteristics. And he looks cold. Wow. That's a lot to think about, much less pull it off flawlessly on paper with paint. Incredible. -- Papa Mikey

What an interesting juxtaposition of textures and shapes. It would be cool to see this image at wall-size. I like the way you vary the sharpness of the edges between the shapes. Kind of turned a corner on this one Madi. Where to begin? Has a non-symmetrical balanced composition that follows the rule of thirds. Were you even taught the rule of thirds?The purple value is balanced perfectly between the yellow and the blue. But to be certain, you chose to lighten the blue near the purple to make sure it stood out. Representational. The gesture is simple and shows emotion. Brushwork shows deliberate precision.
