If I were a little bird, I would LOVE to stay in this house you created! I love the colors, and I especially like the little "porch" or deck that goes all the way around the house. It would be a nice place to get some fresh air while the baby birds are inside taking a nap.

Charlotte, This piece shows a good understanding of perspective and also the differentiation of the foreground from the background. I like the imagination you have put into the detail of the birdhouse exterior. And you let the background "fade away." This is a good technique and fits with how our eyes work, too. Love you, Papa

Another great drawing, C! I like how you made this whole drawing seem happy — from the bright sun to the smile on your face to the happy-looking house on the hill. It’s interesting the way a drawing can make you feel something. The picture has a kind of “emotion” to it. Way to go! Love, Grandma

I wonder if you like water colors compared to other ways of painting? This sounds silly, but using water colors worked best for me when I was painting scenes of rain or fog...ones where you wouldn't expect the lines between objects to be sharp and clear. I am really impressed the way you got the night sky to show the moon and the stars! And we need to go to the desert to see some rock formations in person. Way to go, girl!

Hi Charlotte. I really like your still life painting! It's very well done and I particularly like how you painted the purple background curtain with the folds and wrinkles. It's so real! Grandma and I went to National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC on Saturday and your still life was as good as many of the paintings we saw there.
