Could he - or she - be hungry? I know that I can get grumpy when I haven't eaten anything in a long while and really need to eat! The colors you chose for your cat are beautiful! I ALSO LIKE YOUR ELEPHANT, DANIEL, BECAUSE IT IS BIG. IT IS *SO* BIG IT COULDN'T FIT ITS WHOLE BODY ON YOUR PAPER! NOW THAT IS *REALLY* BIG! IT LOOKS LIKE YOU USED PAINT, CRAYONS AND A BLACK MARKER. IS THAT WHAT YOU USED TO CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL ELEPHANT? I *LOVE* ELEPHANTS! AND MOTHER ELEPHANTS LOVE THEIR ELEPHANT CHILDREN. THEY PROTECT THEM AND FEED THEM AND ALWAYS LOVE THEM. Hi, Daniel! What cute and colorful birds! They are so round and sweet, I wish I could hold each one in my hand! Your Yellow Bird reminds me of the time my Father brought home chicken eggs, with a baby chicks inside, almost ready to be born. We built an "incubator" out of large cookie tin with a lightbulb to keep the eggs warm so they would hatch. In the middle of the night, I heard "Peep, Peep, Peep" from my bedroom: The chicks had started hatching! So I woke up my Mother and Father and we watched as the baby chicks pecked their way out of their egg shells. It was a lot exercise for them - like running in a race - and were very tired afterward. But so beautiful and exciting for us to see these baby chicks being born! Daniel - Your Chinese New Year lanterns are GORGEOUS! I am so impressed by the different shades of color within each lantern. Did you do that by using different pieces & textures of paper? And the background - it looks like the sky: Is it? - is such a beautiful shade of blue. Some people would call that a "Robin's Egg Blue" (because a robin's eggs are that color). Daniel! What a beautiful painting! Your "abstract" paintings cause me to think about and feel so many things. Or even being memories to mind: A true artist can do that. :) For instance, this painting (your shapes and colors) remind me of when I was 5 years-old and running home from kindergarten in the snow, wearing a plastic raincoat (over my jacket) in the same colors you've used here! The snow was falling in big round flakes and my multi-colored raincoat was flying behind me as I was running . . . and so happy that it was snowing! :) -- HARRIET

Her teacher taught oil painting by having his students copy the work of other artists. Daniel - I have done some of my own work in clay ("wheel-throwing") but I have always had great difficulty with "coiling" clay. The coiled piece of yours is FANTASTIC! WOW, Daniel. Another beautiful composition, beautifully colored! When i was sixteen years old and was on a cross-country (NOT running, like you do, but in a car ;)) trip to the West Coast with my family, we saw a moose not too far from our car. It was, of course, amazing to see a moose in the first place. But what REALLY was amazing to me was seeing how ENORMOUS a moose is. Before that moment, I had only been familiar with the cartoon, "Rocky and Bullwinkle" (Rocky was the flying squirrel and Bullwinkle was the moose), so it was a TOTAL SHOCK to see the size of these magnificent, antlered animals. I mean, they are WAY ENORMOUS! And I feel that you've captured the size of these beautiful creatures by drawing your moose "close" to the viewer, by having your moose fill up the size of your paper: A very, very clever artistic choice on your part to convey just how large these animals are.
