This doesn't look like any forest I've been in but it will sure go well in my kitchen! Good work.

Great use of vivid color in this one, Ian. I really like it. It reminds me of some of the totem poles I've seen in western Canada.
-- Papa
Posted 9 years ago
This one looks like sailboats on a windy sea! If that isn't what you were going for, I still like it very much. I think this is one of the more "framable" pieces of art that you have done.
-- Papa

Great pumpkins Ian they seem to be dancing very cheerful.
-- Gammie

Pumpkins are a very colorful image at this time of year. I really like the rich, colorful way you've represented these four pumpkins!

-- Papa
Posted 10 years ago
this has the potential of being good and very colorful but not sure why she would post an unfinished picture.

I've been looking forward to the art that you will be doing in third grade this year. I like this one. When I see you again, I hope you will explain to me why all the "x's" and "o's"!

This is an interesting one, Ian. It would be cool to put it in a window with the sun shining through.
-- Papa
Posted 10 years ago
Good one, Ian, and with real feathers!
-- Papa
Posted 10 years ago
My favorite backyard bird, Ian. Beautiful. We have two pairs of cardinals who regularly visit our bird feeder. We really enjoy them. I'd like to see you draw/paint some other birds too!
-- Papa

COOL PICTURE LAN, THE FIRST PLACE I THOUGHT OF WAS YOUR GREAT, GREAT, GRANDMA WHO LIVED IN CEDARVILLE, CA ON THE RANCH. IT IS A VERY COLD EVENING AND THE BIGGER PART OF THE STORM IS COMING. ( ONE TIME I WAS THERE AND HAD TO GO OUT AND FEED THE COWS AND IT WAS -17 BELOW ZERO) THIS YOUNG MODOC INDIAN BRAVE, WHO HAS SKINNED HIS FIRST COYOTE AND MADE A COAT, IS COLD. HE IS SURPRISED TO FIND A LUCKY BEAR BLANKET TO WRAP IN, AS HE IS A LONG WAY FROM THE VILLAGE.

Somehow I had missed this one. Don't know when you did it, but it's beautiful!

-- Papa
Posted 10 years ago
Love it Ian but curious to hear about it. Looks like there may be a story with this one.
-- Gammie
Posted 10 years ago
DEAR LAN, I LIKE THE PICTURE YOU DREW. TREES ON AN ICY AND COLD MOUNTAIN. I HOPE OUR TREES WILL BE COLD AS WE ARE TO GET 4 INCHES OF SNOW THIS WEEK. MERRY CHRISTMAS

-- Papa
Posted 11 years ago
When I was in school, Ian, I really enjoyed learning about the color wheel. Sometime I will bring some paints when we can make a color wheel by mixing the primary colors into secondary colors. It's cool!
-- Papa
Posted 11 years ago
I like this one best of any you've done so far, Ian. I've printed it and am going to put it in my library window for the sun to shine through!
-- Papa
Posted 11 years ago
You are doing some nice things to show what winter is like. The snow man in an earlier piece of art and this one would make a nice pair of pictures to frame and have on a wall. They'd also make some nice winter note cards.
-- Papa
Posted 11 years ago
That snowman makes me smile Ian especially the hat and teeth.
-- Gammie
Posted 11 years ago
Great portrait of a snowman, Ian. The snowflakes and the hat make it very real.
-- Papa
Posted 11 years ago

Good, bold colors in this one, Ian. I think it would be interesting to put it in a window--like stained glass--to see how the light would come through it!
-- Papa
Posted 12 years ago
Nice butterflies Ian did you color the grass at the bottom also?
-- Gammie
Posted 12 years ago
It won't be too long, Ian, before winter will be coming with colder weather, and this artwork of a butterfly will help us to remember warmer days! I like the vivid red color of the butterfly in this.
-- Papa
Posted 12 years ago
It is interesting to see a kind of art that is more than just drawing or painting. The choice of colors and shapes make a very nice design. I hope I can see this when we get together next time!
-- Papa
Posted 12 years ago
I like it Ian, is that a kite in the background? Aren't you glad to have such a cool name and so easy to write!
-- Gammie

This is a nice arrangement of the rainbow colors.
-- Papa
Posted 12 years ago
Hey, Ian, I like this one best of all you've done so far. Sometime we will have to collect some lightning bugs in a jar just like this.
-- Papa
Posted 12 years ago
That's pretty cool Ian. I think it would make a good party decoration!
-- Gammie
Posted 12 years ago

What a great idea, Ian, to make some models of fossils of your own. I have always been interested in fossils and can see the trilobites very clearly. And your daddy liked to study about fossils, too, when he was in grade school. Good job!
-- Papa
Posted 12 years ago
Hey, Ian, I really like this ladybug. Now I want to read the book about the grouchy ladybug--or maybe you can tell me about it.

Everything looks very snowy and icy in this picture, Ian. It is just like the winter scene in our backyard. Very nicely done.
-- Papa
Posted 13 years ago
I have seen modern art works in museums that aren't as good as this. I think I must have a copy of this one! I like the others too but so far this is my favorite. I'm so glad that art is important in your school!
