Dear Helen, I really like all the wonderful colors in this painting. You have given the turtle some place to swim, a road to take him to exciting places and some grass so he can rest in the sun. What a lucky turtle. Love from Grannie

Very nice - is that a sheep? -- Dad No! It's a pegahorn, silly! (You have to read the artist's statement that accompanies... what this creature is is central to the art...) -- Mom, responding to Dad

Hi Helen, I'm impressed that you learned how to fold into five parts, to make a pentagonal shape. How did you learn to do that? I like to make origami shapes that are pentagons, like cherry blossoms and other flowers. Beautiful job! Love, Prilla -- Prilla

Dear Helen, I loved the rhythms of this painting when I first saw it and I loved it even more when I read the title. The idea of the warm yellow light rising to chase away the dark night is very beautiful and I am so proud of you for putting that beautiful thought into your work. Love from Grannie and Papa Jack -- Liz
