Wow Riley! I wish we lived in a city this bright and colorful. It reminds me of some of the little seaside towns like Cinque Terre, Italy. We should move there! Love you, Mommy

Hi Riley, The colors in your drawing are two of my favorites. I wish I had a kite shaped like the design you drew and colored. I think it could feel the wind on the beach and soar high above the ocean. Thank you for sharing it. -- Sheila

The Birds art is so lively and vibrant, just like spring when the sun shines. The cardinal is so plump and sassy sitting on that branch, the blue sky is just the right blue, and the texture on the tree looks real. -- sheila

From your colorful scenes of your playdate with Emily, I can see what fun it is to spend time with a good friend. -- sheila

Riley, You captured the bold drama of Winslow Homer in your Seascape. Winslow Homer lived much of his life in Maine, on Prout's Point in Scarborough, about thirty minutes north of us in Kennebunk. Last year his home became part of the Portland Museum of Art. -- sheila

Riley, I see this lovely lady with the earrings and look to her eyes and the expression on her face. In my imagination she is listening to someone while thinking whether or not she should believe what she's hearing....very interesting click in time. -- sheila

This piece of art reminds me of the artist Piet Mondrian. It is very abstract and modern. -- sheila

The dark greys and black lines and shading do make this picture very somber. Why do I think there is a story behind this drawing? I am curious about the creature in the foreground, the disembodied head with huge dark eyes and curly hair, and what about the head in the upper right background. I am wondering how they might all be connected in some way. Really interesting and provocative drawing, Riley. -- sheila

The Sunflowers in Blue Vase is stunning, Riley. The soft colors are calming and the single flopping flower with the dark stem add a bit of mystery. -- Sheila

I like the way the shades of green, blue, aqua and even lavender form parts that are separate and together at the same time. The yellow-orange circle seems like it was pushed out of the cool colors, but the smile tells me it's proud or just happy. Is the sun shining after a terrible storm? -- sheila

I really like the way one girl has a colorful skirt and the other has a white skirt. If I use my imagination I might wonder if the girls are doing a dance, or maybe they're friends going to a party...did they make their clothes themselves on a sewing machine? Riley, your drawing makes me wonder if there is a story to tell about those girls. -- sheila
