Max, you're getting better and better every year! Good control while working with so many straight lines that have to be drawn on an angle. I like it! Grandmom Kitty

Oooh, Max, I think this is a neat picture. It looks like aliens to me or a lot of Mike Wizowsky's from Monsters, Inc. What's it supposed to be? Love you! Keep up the art work, buddy. xoxo Aunt Sheila

Great job, Max! You could say it has a double meaning representing life because it looks like an oversize heart with the tiny branches representing the veins and arteries going to and from the heart. And the green leaves indicate there is still growth in those withered branches! Grandmom Kitty

Good job, Max. Next time you come to Maryland, I'm going to take you to the western part of the state on Route 64. There is a stunning display of the earth's strata right off the highway. I almost wrecked my car the first time I saw it because it was so beautiful and breathtaking. Love you, Grandmom Kitty

Max, I can't quite figure out what you're trying to convey here. Are those white squares supposed to be clouds within the dark clouds? Tell me about it. Grandmom Kitty

Well, Max, we certainly know what's on your mind! That ninth birthday is coming up very soon, you're missing Nut-Nut the turtle, you love pizza. Are those grapes or olives on the tree? I know you love both. And is that a baseball bat or a blue chicken leg at your left shoulder? Very nice artistic interpretation of what makes Max the wonderful grandson he is! Love you, Grandmom Kitty

Maxie, I love this piece. I can tell these are all your favorite things: baseball, pizza, birthday cake and your beloved Nut-Nut. All on a favorite passion fruit tree with snow falling! Way to incorporate all your favorite things into one picture. I love it!

Hi, Max, Is that Mr. Potato Head? It looks like he has pineapple ears and maybe a tomato mouth with a broccoli head of hair! Can't figure out the eyes, unless they're the black olives that you, Haylee, and I love so much! Be careful of the smudges around the mouth, or was that on purpose to show how how much he loved whatever he had eaten? Good job! Love you, Grandmom Kitty

Wonders never cease, Max. I never heard the term Ndebele until just now. I looked it up on the internet and learned it is derived from a tribe in an area of South Africa. The designs they showed are very similar to what you've drawn. Good job! Love you, Grandmom Kitty

Hi, Max, Is this a picture of another turtle or is it your turtle, Nut Nut? Either way, I think it would be nice to get a frame for the original and hang it above Nut Nuts home to keep him company. I like that you limited yourself to only five or six colors--very effective minimalism! Love you, Grandmom Kitty

Max, your landscape picture has colors that are usually calming, yet the dark tree and earth, green sea, and gray sky make one think that a dangerous storm could be soon to come. Good contradiction! (Look up that word in the dictionary if you're unsure of the meaning.) Love you, Grandmom Kitty

Max, I had no idea you were so artistic! Your sense of color is so strong and I love the abstract way you define your subjects. I particularly liked the way you took everyday objects and made something like a mask out of them. I love the picture of the bird and it was very clever the way you showed the change of seasons with the trees. Such a great job, Max. And Mom Megan, forget buying gifts for special occasions--instead, I'll take a framed original work of Max's art any day! Love you to the moon and back, Grandma Kitty
