Every detail can be appreciated in true fall beauty. From the pile of leaves resting underneath the aging tree to the crisp cool air that rustles through the treetops. This piece of art delivers a hidden scent of Apple pies coming in the neighboring windows and the search for the perfect pumpkin.

What a great take on a popular classic. I really enjoy the use of new colors and how well they mesh together. It still gives the illusion of night, despite the amount of white on the page. It actually makes me think of the Aurora Borealis over the north pole. The movement around the stars and moon play nicely to create a new art piece, while still appreciating the original artist. One of my favorites!!

Wind in the clouds is what I feel when I look at this piece. A beautiful blue sky, the white cotton clouds, and the unseen wind that controls the designs in nature above.

The power of the ocean's waves have never left me feeling strong and mighty. You have caught the true determination of the ocean's soul- to be unprovoked and courageous in its purpose. Although powerful, it still brings serenity and peace to it's crashing end.

The lonely Lighthouse, although not so lonely in this piece. It has been graced with purposeful clouds carrying the possibility of a light rain, or a crackly of lightning. The water builds in courage to adapt to its climate changes as you can almost see the movement in the sapphire waves.

Poinsettias in watercolor on water paper is one of my favorite depictions of this Christmas beauty. The details to create such art takes more concentration and skill to display the complexity of the plant. Your art is so lifelike, as mentioned before, which grabs me instantly and makes me yearn to see what else you can paint. Very nice work!

Well Tom, it looks like you kept your commitment of one piece of artwork for one year. I am so proud of you. I know how easy it could have been to skip a day or stop all together, but not you- YOU DID IT!!! You are such an inspiration to the students, parents, peers, and anyone who was lucky enough to grace the presence of your talents. I bow in your honor to keep your word and while doing so, creating wonderful art pieces to be admired and enjoyed for a very long time. All my best and congratulations!

A great piece to inspire a vintage Christmas. The color of paper really creates a nostalgic child's story with the bunny and penguin centerpieces. How magical this artwork brings for a bright-eyed toddler on Christmas morning.

Autumn trees on a winding road; sounds like the perfect road trip to me to enjoy all Mother Nature has to offer during the fall season. Despite the lack of color, I can still feel the warm tones and the chill in the air.

This piece reminds me of an old world Italian kitchen. As an Italian myself, seeing the produce sparks homemade cooking of rich marinara sauces and a nice piece of a crusty baguette. Manga and Perfecto!

I love this look! What a clever medium for your pieces of art. I very much appreciate the different feel the vertical page has on your works. It gives the audience a feeling of peeking into your artwork, which truly adds to the in depth details and individuality of each subject on the page.

Your wonderful lines and depictions of characters is such an inspiration for your art students! I think you would have made a fantastic cartoonist, but luckier for the children who get to have you as their teacher.

Fantastic colors that jump off the page and a new style I have never seen before. I greatly appreciate water color as it lends itself to two different aspects: transparency and invitational. Excellent work!

One of the favorite seashells of children; young and old. You captured it's beautiful pink and corral colors and added great texture to show the details of the shell. I can hear the ocean from here.

Your use of light is brought to life in this black and white. The absence of color has not taken away the awesome presence of the day, or perhaps a picnic near the palm trees. Love it!

This picture reflects so much emotion. It's dark, mysterious, inviting to the unknown... The waves are brilliant in movement and striking in their power.
-- Dina

This is simply amazing! I love its possibilities! Science fiction, octopi, EEG, etc... It is so fun and craves attention from the audience.
-- Dina

Fantastic perspective of the later piece of "Abstract 4." I really like the waves, the colors, the theme. As I look to find a story or an element of your design, I am brought about thinking of a crazy fun waterpark filled with waterslides.
-- Dina

Great dimension in this piece. I like how my eyes race around the page anxious to look at the next line and the next line, and so on. It reminds me of the plastic beaded bracelets my daughters used to make when they were younger.

How fun is this jack-o-lantern! What beautiful fall colors and expression in the witch's face. It makes me crave the fall months ahead even more so. Terrific!!
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
The radiograph pen and watercolor really compliment each other in your artwork. I enjoy how you can see a sunset near the bottom of the palm trees. It looks as if the horizon is off to the right of the photo, which adds dimension to the piece. It is very relaxing!!
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Gorgeous scenery and view! I love the use of colors and how they represent the truth of the ocean tides and the wide open sky above.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
What bold blues and refreshing whites to highlight the natural movement of the ocean. Ah to be a bird, able to grace the skies with flight, then take a rest with such a great view.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Your artwork should be picked up for children's stories. They are so delicately created and grab the audience with whimsical textures and childlike fantasies.
Posted 13 years ago
Look at how the waves wash in the sand. I can almost hear the waves crashing and the ocean responding with repetitive motions of sand swirls and mist rising from the rocks and falling back into the sea below. Santa Cruz has many beautiful sites, and this one has been created with the heart of the city in each stroke.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
I really like this depiction of the milk jug. I like the choice of colors, which highlight many copper milk jugs I have seen in my life. There is so much history in pieces such as these, and its nice to create new ones just the same.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
I am admiring many aspects of the picture: the dark sky moving into the horizon, the highlighted trees in the background to display the direction of light, and the movement of water. The Truckee River brings back many pleasant memories, but I think I am enjoying your piece even more so.
-- Dina

This is so cute! What a great final product and how versatile it is. It is an added treasure to a curio cabinet, a room freshener, and a conversation piece. It's lovely in its child-like colors and size.

Aahhh... the Mighty Oak. Tires swings, tree houses, and simply climbing the branches memories have been revisited in my mind as I admire the richness and strength in the lines and extensions of this tree.

Great use of color, highlighting and textures. I love the copper red in the hills and the falling of the sky behind the mountains. The color palette used for this piece is very complimentary.

Historical Placer County Courthouse... what a delightful treasure we have in our fair city. It's cultural flairs and unique architectural structure has been captured with greatness and accuracy. You have complimented this beautiful work of art perfectly! Bravo!!

Okay, I know we didn't have much of a winter this year, nor spring for that matter and now you produce this piece glorifying the autumn season and all I can think is Fall please get here NOW!! I love it, love it, love it!! I am not a summer person, nor do I want to have anything to do with the elevated temperatures and you have given me a wonderful view of what is "hopefully" yet to come. I gladly welcome any piece that encourages cool breezes, fallen leaves of crimson and burnt canary, or the skies that gradually turn from blue to a soft sunset. Give me more, pleeeaaassseeee!!

I am thoroughly enjoying your commitment to produce a new piece of art each day of 2013. It has been a joy to watch the artwork flow from your pens, your brushes, your colors, your inspirations... Great details filled with the ideal strokes to enhance the story within the picture. Fantastico!!
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
I know I have redundantly stated this before, but I have to say it again, you have such movement in your art. It makes me feel as if I am admiring nature in motion from afar. There are no words to describe your sky, and that's a good thing!!

Your flowers have a 3-D effect and cleverly play with the admirers eyes. The radiograph pen is a fantastic art medium and you have used them so creatively. Thank you for the visual treasure!

You should be so proud of your accomplishments and commitment to create one piece of artwork a day for one year, and this sunflower just proves another. Stunning colors and just in time for summer. Keep up the great work!

This is an amazing depiction of a milk jug with the brush pen. Once again, you have developed so many details with just simple strokes. I'm sure it's anything but simple and I don't mean to belittle your work; I just find your pieces visual stimulating and you deserve so much credit for your artistic abilities.

Your pieces with brush pen are fascinating! They almost have a cartoonish look and feel to them. It reminds me of pictures in childrens' stories, more specifically, "Winnie the Pooh."
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Great depth with the crayon. I have learned so many new mediums for art because of you. Even your pieces that maintain simplicity, they have so much to say. As a writer, I love admiring your art and thinking of short stories to go with them. I have yet to have writer's block. Just beautiful!

Great hues and detail! I have so enjoyed your artwork throughout the year. Despite the end of school, I will continue to be your fan and comment, so make sure you keep up your commitment for 365 days of art :)

Posted 13 years ago
So many thoughts, so many words; just like the details in these beautifully drawn sunflowers. You have your own uniqueness and I believe I could identify your work without the indication of a name on the lower corner. You pick up some of Monet's palette, yet you have created something beyond his famous creations. There is a real passion for art here and it is abundantly clear that you have a love for art and all that she entails. Well done!

The sweet teddy bear. Always ready to soothe the crying toddler, a nighttime best friend, and the best secret keeper a child could find. Every detail and choice of colors mimics this cuddly stuffed animal. The lack of mouth truly tells that he will listen and never tell.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
The comfort of the palm. Always alluring, intimately hinting of the ocean nearby, and nestled together as if they have a secret to share.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Great shading in the sand and individual details in the blades of grass. I can appreciate the brush strokes that shine through. It is so lifelike, I almost thought it was a photograph.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
How fun is this! Great textures and interesting colors make the eyes dance around the page. I love the hidden leaves and the delicate highlights that tip the flowers.

Posted 13 years ago
I love Canadian Geese. They are beautiful, graceful, friendly, and entertaining. When we lived in Colorado our apartment complex had a huge pond that played home to a flock of Canadian Geese. In the spring they would have many babies and my girls gave many hours to feeding and befriending these lovely creatures. Every detail in the wings, the structure of the neck, and the sweetness in the eyes makes me relieve those moments. Thank you!
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Entrancing colors, unique textures, and a sunset that makes me wish I was there. The color palettes really play well together. It makes me think of different states I have traveled to. I've enjoyed many nights in Maui with sunsets such as these; New Mexican deserts filled with rich red dirt; and deep plum sand dunes in Southern California. How great that you could bring back so many memories!! Fantastic!!

Aahhh, Monterey Bay... Could there be a more relaxing, beautiful, or inviting place to travel to and enjoy the lovely scenery. Simplistic as it may seem, it illuminates the essence of its origin.

I'm sure you've hear it before, it looks just like Nemo. Great use of the green colors. The background hues accentuate the main focus of this piece.

I love your collection of Santa Cruz. Such great lines and shading for this piece. Once again, your pieces always contain movement, which I appreciate so much. Wouldn't you just love to be there right now?
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
This is adorable. Although in black and white, it screams a colorful depiction of childlike stories and bedtime classics. I wish I had a real one. You really have a way of capturing the adolescence of life through the eyes of a child, but attracting the dark recesses of the adult mind who still feel that we all need to play from time to time.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
These are my favorite kinds of trees. They are filled with character and great places to hide from the sun and have a picnic. The best is to lay on your back on a slightly windy day and just watch nature sing through the trees. Such wonderful detail, bright colors of green and movement you can sway to.

I'm so happy to see that you are continuing your commitment to draw, paint, etc. one new piece each day of 2013. I really look forward to the new visual treasures that await. Pieces such as these are so inspiring. I love the movement, the warmth, the passport of vacation that allows me to drift away from my current realities to visit places that will relax me and help me find solace. Thank you!!

Both of my daughters have drawn a picture similar to this and everytime I see them, it makes me think of something new. The blue one reminds me of a genie bottle- possibilities unlimited. The two other bottles remind me of an Italian kitchen (preferably mine some day) filled with flavored olive oils just perfect for dipping a rustic sourdough baguette. The black and white tiles add perfect detail to finish it off.
-- Dina

Great piece with lots of different textures. The natural landscapes are stunning and the black and white really enhance the depths of its nooks and crannies.

Just look at the detail; I can't hardly grasp the concepts of how you turned a piece of paper and charcoal into this adoring work of art. I love the woodpecker and I think you captured its natural instincts perfectly!

I love the fall tones of this piece. It makes me wish for Fall all year long; especially as summer approaches. This will allow me to daydream of the autumn days to come.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
These are some of my favorite pieces you draw. I can't even begin to contemplate all the brilliant strokes and details inside, around, above, beneath, and extending from the center of this wonderful flower. Almost too inspiring for words... but I guess I found a few; none quite as just as this picture.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Looking at the immense details of strokes and lines, it's simply impressive! Black and white, in my opinion, almost has more intense dramatization than color prints. I can appreciate every stroke because I can see the specificities along the way. Superb piece!

It's amazing how simple black and white drawings can become so detailed and filled with life. Very inspiring!

Being from the Bay Area I can appreciate missions such as this. I had to build one from scratch in the 6th grade and it was just as fun, if not more so, than recreating a science project. Without reading your title, I knew it was a mission immediately. Your pieces are great for recollecting memories from childhood.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Ah, the Truckee River... So many memories as a kid, floating down the river, catching a fish on a piece of old line and a stick, and jumping off the rocks. What really impresses is how you capture Mother Nature in both the scenery and the weather. I love the gloomy darkness. I am a big fan of mysterious pieces, especially those that make the admirer's imagination picture movement and create a story from within the art.

Beyond words just like beyond detail. It's so impressive how much detail goes into this piece; yet, nothing detracts from the many strokes, it only stimulates the eyes.

-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
I'm not famliar with the radiograph pen, but I have to say I am becoming a fan. It adds a certain depth to the piece, much different than the mechanical pencil with different grades of lead. I love the way my eyes dance across the page admiring the whimsical winds through the trees. Only the best of artists can play the eyes without losing the serenity of the entire work of art.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Ah, the sunflower. This has so many undertones to Monet's sunflower, with a hint of Van Gogh in the background. What a creative way to display a fresh approach to the delicate, but mighty sunflower.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
What a fun depiction of fairy tales and myths relating to the ivy-covered trees residing up into the heavens. It also reminds me of the stalk of the Tree of Life. Trees represent so much strength in nature and in mankind and your piece demonstrates this strength in a colorful, animated structure.
-- Dina
Posted 13 years ago
Your oil paintings are so lifelike and full of emotion. I like the dark skies mimicing the deep gray waters below. I actually prefer days like this in Santa Cruz opposed to the bright and sunny summer moments.

Art pieces such as these give me a sense of nostalgia from childhood. It was so common in the 70's and 80's for homes to have bowls of artificial fruit as a centerpiece. This is another way art enters our psyche; sweet memories.

This is so precise to Folsom Lake shoreline. The details take it from being just any lake, to customizing it to one of Folsom's beautiful shorelines. I have been so many times and you have captured her in her true essence of relaxation for the adults, and wading for the kiddies.

Beautiful textures and soft colors make these bottles pleasant to admire. Your shading techniques have really helped Abbey to understand the artistic abilities of creating shadows and adding depth to her pieces. I will be sad when the semester ends. We will miss you as Adrienne's and Abbey's art teacher, but will continue to contribute to your New Year's Resolution. Thanks so much!!

This reminds me of my first visit to Maui. Jason and I were on the beach and as I looked up, I saw a bunch of palm trees hanging over me; as if its purpose was to watch the sungoers. You have given me a great memory to reflect on. As always, your depictions of real-life are so unbelievably familiar that not only are you giving your fans a beautiful piece to admire, but one that brings about happy feelings of the past. Thank you!

Starry, Starry Night is one of the most famous pieces of art, and you just gave another reason why. Your colors are brilliant and depict the small brush strokes Van Gogh was notorious for. I really appreciate the likeness your piece articulates from the original.

I can see why my daughters are so intrigued with oil pastels with examples such as these. Your choice of colors are so lifelike. Sometimes I have to take a closer look to see if this was one of your photography entries, or one of your painting/mixed media pieces. A breathtaking blue sky, cotton candy clouds, and lush green hills as true as Ireland itself. What a lucky little tree!
-- Dina

I'm falling in love with your flower art. They are just so lovely! The manila drawing paper brings such a romanticism to your piece, just like the way flowers are given by secret admirers and from people falling in love. Have you considered putting your works of art up for sale, if so, I am very interested in a few pieces? Can't wait to see more!

You are an amazing artist! My children, Adrienne & Abbey, have truly benefited from your experience and artistic teachings. Thank you for being such a great role model and taking my children deeper into the art world by creating hands-on techniques and multiple mediums to express their creative communications. I look forward to the many additional artworks they will be creating to hang throughout our home. :)

I absolutely love charcoal drawings. I think they add such depth, regardless of the intent from the artist. This is a great depiction of the faded years behind us with a touch of survival and the ability to be undefeated by our natural surroundings and relationships beyond acquaintances.

The simplicity in this drawing is so relaxing. Wish I was there right now! I can feel the breeze of the wind as I admire it from the blades resting on the hillside. I can close my eyes and hear the subtlities of the ocean before me. It's a nice day for a walk on the beach in your beautiful picture.

Mr. Sarradet- This is one of my favorite paintings from the master artists. Your impression is stunning! Excellent work!
