Tanner! Your new drawing is really interesting because the man holding the fish looks to have a chiefs uniform on and I'm wondering if he's on his way to the kitchen to fillet his prize tuna! I really like the shading on the walls and the expression on his face. It's just so fun to see you try new techniques and the shape of the fish is perfect!! You're a natural! GB

Hi Tanner! Now you're beginning to "tell a story" and I think that's just great, especially since the viewer can take it in a number of different directions. Of course this family is very partial to catching LARGE FISH! I'm delighted with your progress and also value the lovely design pieces I had not seen before. I have a particular fondness for curved lines because of their grace, and you're good at that. Love, Auntie Gloria

WOW! This is great Tanner. I would like to talk with you about how you decided to use the colors for this piece. Did you create the shapes too? This is pretty sophisticated stuff! This art class is really fabulous and I think if you need money to continue these workshops you better come help me in the garden! Love you, Tia

Well isn't this different!? I see you're exploring all different kinds of subjects and use of color and design. I'm anxious to compare your work to Andy Warhol's. (Andy was a very famous artist. Also a big nut!) The more I look at your work as I type this email to you, the more I like it. It looks and feels like you're having more fun than a barrel of moneys. Poppy

Hi Tanner, this is Donna, your Grandmother JoAnn's friend from Sacramento now living in Hawaii. I was so happy to be able to see a sampling of your artwork on Artsonia and want you to know that you have a wonderful budding talent. I especially liked the polluted river picture as it really show your feeling for the problems. I hope you continue with your art as you really show great promise with it. I look forward to seeing more. Mahalo & Aloha, Donna from The Big Island of Hawaii

Purrfect, purrfect, for sure and indeed! And I, fair Tanner, would follow your lead If GB and I hadn't seen the great need And already 'dopted six cat mouths to feed. (Cats are the best critters that I've ever 'seed.')

Great job, Tanner. And, I'm not just saying that because you're one of my top-two favorite nephews. I draw every day. With a simple pencil you were able to make: short, bold lines; soft, arcing lines; and fuzzy, abstract lines. All, to communicate different textures. This is a terrific sketch. Keep drawing...every day. Bravo!

This perspective is serious. You have had so many experiences to show you the beauty of the earth and I hope you continue to work through your life to share these very special places with others and teach them how to protect it. I have seen rivers run copper brown, dead trees and fish decaying in the filth and garbage buried in the mud. This kind of vision makes your heart ache and if humans understood what the reward of a clean environment would be I think they would make other choices. I am impressed by your thoughts and really like the way you tied the two scenarios together. If I bought this drawing I would cover the ugly side with another piece of paper just so I could enjoy the nature story you tell on the right & only peek at the left side occasionally.

wowowowow! tHIS IS NOT ONLY GREAT ARTWORK BUT IT INSPIRES ME TO CLOSE MY EYES AND DREAM OF OUR WARM VACTIONS AWAY AT EAST LAKE. THE THOUGHT OF ALL OF US SITTING AT THE PICNIC TABLE AND LOOKING THROUGH EACH OTHERS TACKLE BOXES FULL OF TREASURES. YOUR FLYBOX ALWAYS SEEMS A BIT FULLE THAN MINE AND YOU MAY END UP BECOMING A WORLD CLASS FLY FISHERMEN! I THINK YOU HAVE CAPTURED JUST WHAT A FISH WOULD EAT, SOMETIMES A STREAMLINED CADIS FLY OR MAYBE A JUICY DRAGONFLY! NICE WORK TANNER! WHAT'S NEXT?

While I was writing about your flies, your second art work, Abstraction and Metamorphosis, was coming on line. This is a very thoughtful piece showing how little separates a world that's clean and pristine and beautiful from a world that's not. It also reminds us all that we need to work hard to keep our planet clean...that the world didn't leave a junk car out to spoil the world, but that a person did. A person leaves a car...or tosses a still-burning cigarette out the car window...or throws a french fry container onto the ground. We all need to be vigilent. Last week GB and I were on an old sugar cane train on the Caribbean Island we visited, riding along the coastline. This should be one of the most beautiful places on earth, but as we passed over a bridge we looked to the stream below, and it was choked with bottles and cans and paper and junk of all kinds. The stream wasn't beautiful at all; it was ugly beyond words. It was a sad sight -and one we must all work to change e

Tanner, these aren't just good...they're Tony the Tiger, GRRRRRREAT! I think if you put this postcard on the end of a fishing line, come giant lunker would swallow the card whole! The next time you're in a sportsmen's store, look at some of the art work there. I think you'll see how other artists draw their flies swirling through the air at the tip of leader and how fish lie just below the water's surface ready to consume it when it touches the water. If I were a fish, I'd eat one of your flies. If I didn't know about pizza. Good job, T. Poppy
