Very nice job. You've got clean sharp lines with no bleeding dots, each emoji is a well defined character with their own unique emotion and well balanced distribution. Another solid, well done job.

Hey, good job. I like this one. You're demonstrating improvement in control of your outlines of your figures, while maintaining balance of the overall image with the placement of the birds. The birds have unique characters and the sizing of the musical note helps accent the final image. Yes, I'm seeing improvement. Good job.

I really like this one, Lauren. You got good color and luminosity balance, a unique and enjoyable character, texture in the shell...this work makes me smile. Job well done. :)

I like this one, Lauren. Once again you've instinctively balanced the image of the gorilla in black slightly off center to make up for the lack of balance of the yellow being more weighted to one side. As a result, balancing the whole image. I also notice your improving control of your drawing. You began with the eyes and mouth boundaries then added a distinctive control of the outer furr in even strokes that weren't rushed or confused. At least, until you got in between the eyes, which unfortunately broke up the harmony of the strokes of your crayon. I'm guessing it's a female gorilla from the look of the the eye lashes and the shape of lips. And that confuses me because she also has a mustache. Overall it's a cheerful background with a stoic and pretty gorilla with sypathetic and loney eyes well suited to to evoke empathy for the troubles that the gorillas are facing.

Hey, that looks good. I especially like the way you're mixing the crayon colors in your dress to give it added texture rather than a simple single color. I'm also seeing more stablity and control in the lines your drawing but there's still room for improvement. Drawing with a black marker first is difficult because you can't erase. I often start with a pencil first and then erase lines I don't like before making the lines permanent with marker. I also notice that you're using the marker to create the type of textures only a marker can do like Steven's crazy pants and your father's tie. You've also clearly learned to create a 3rd dimension of depth by placing everyone on a field of grass rather than your other classmates who mistakenly placed them on top of the grass. Good job. You're certainly ahead of the rest of your classmates and many of the 4th graders.

Fantastic frog! I love the details and your choice of color. I think your frog has a friend living in our pond!

This one is excellent all round. I love how you mixed the watercolor for the sky against the crayon for the solid things like the grass. You've improved your control of water color, not letting it blend into the other areas. The frog is well drawn as is the mushroom. The color choices provide a good looking mushroom for the frog, not to dark but just the right shade as not to distract the eye from the main focus of attention on the frog. The backgrounds share darker colors causing them to receed back into the distance, and I especially like the addtion of the little warts on his knees and face giving him extra character. This is your best work yet.

Hi Lauren, I just wanted to say I like this work. I looks like you have better control over a thicker paint like this than with the watercolors of the previous work, which is natural. Water colors are difficult to master because of their drippiness. I also like how you used the side of your crayon to create the background of this work and the vibrant, strong colors of the tempura paint for the vase and flowers. If you stand back from it you'll notice that doing it as you have brings out a unique feature that professional artists are typically aware of and that is the fact that dull or pale of faded colors tend to receed into the background while more vibrant and brighter hues/colors tend to appear closer to the viewer. Whether you knew this or not when you did it this way I don't know but it works well to create the illusion of depth in the picture. Keep up the good work!

My two favorite parts of this one is the heart shaped hole for the bird to go in and out of, and the little inch worm you added to perfectly balance out the over all image. That kind of visual sense to balancing the overall image comes natural to all good artists. And it takes a healthy imagination to come up with something new and not just add the usual flowers or grass. Keep up the excellent work.

Your monkey looks good! In fact it's looks better than any of the 2nd graders' monkeys. I miss drawing with you already. You did well with your spacing and use of the space on the paper with the original drawing. The coloring is even and looks real. I bet that's just what the original monkey you were looking at is colored. Even the back ground distribution of color is pleasing to the eye. I can still see you have a little of uncertainty and jitter in drawing the left leg, but I can tell you're looking and trying to match the picture you are looking at and did much better with the right leg. I also like how you solved the depth problem of cutting the banana in order to place it behind the monkey's arm when it might have been easier to just glue it on top. Solving visual problems like that in a piece of art contribute to make art look great. Then you are creating more depth in the picture with the grass and leaves. The grass, leaves and banana's are also important parts of th

This made me smile today. I especially like her pretty blonde hair and how you've drawn her feet. It makes her look like she's wispfully flying to her next appointment. Add the colorful dress and the sly smirk and you've got a great drawing with lots of interesting character to her. Thankyou for sharing this. I enjoy seeing your work. It brightens my spirits to see it. - Love, Uncle Dennis

I see your portraits are coming along well. Faces and bodies are the most challenging subjects to draw. Her nose is cute. Have you ever tried drawing some of the comic strip characters in the the Sunday Paper? Those might look great with drawing and different colored papers. Keep up the good work.

Lauren I really like the clown and the ice cream cone. It looks like you're combining different colored papers to produce the right color to the image. Building layers like that gives the image more dimension. Sometimes I have found that crayons can produce even more fascinating effects when used on different color papers. Then when you find the right crayon and paper combination and add even more colored paper combinations you can create really professional looking art. Keep at it. I think your ahead of the pack for your age. I bet you can see that too in your class.

Lauren! Fantastic artwork! I didn't know my favorite princess was so-o-o talented. I had a hard time deciding which drawing was my favorite because I think they are all wonderful. I choose this butterfly because I love all the detail. I can't wait to see what else you do! Hugs from Ms. Maryellen
