Jaira! What I love about this picture is exaggerated scale of the pumpkin next to the river. It makes it playfully out of proportion, and therefore, interesting. I also liked the moonshine on the top of the pumpkin, since that makes it look like what it is - a night time picture. However, now that I think about it, there are some pretty huge pumpkins out there that win prizes every year! This one definitely should be included!

Jaira! This is one happy sun! I love all those things that are bursting out of it because of all the shapes and colors you included. This one made me smile immediately and kept me smiling as I wrote this!

Hummm...that looks like something from Sponge Bob. Perhaps another satisfied customer at the Krusty Krab? The hair does it all -- almost like Dr. Seuss hair!

HI JAIRA! I loved your straw craft! I never did learn how to do that...is it hard? And..I loved your color combo, it reminds me of my favorite ice cream: Neopolitan! (esp. with Hershey's syrup!). Keep up the good work! Love, Donna

A flower?!? But you told me you drew a diagram of a fully sustainable combination chlorophyll energy / biometric fragrance factory. Oh...

I'd swear that this flower is dancing with the sun. Very cool stuff here girl.

Okay - that's easily some of the coolest grass I've ever seen you draw. Light toward the bottom with highlights but fading to dark at the top. How do you do that?!? -- Papa

In this picture, I see depicted the great struggle between good and evil. There, in the sky, is the moon called "the faithful witness" in the Bible. I love the concentric rings around it - just beautiful and good! Now, to the right are the bat flying out and that's just fine. But -- what are those dots flying out from behind them? That's not what I think it is is it? To quote Bat Thumb "If you insist on calling him that, then you should just call him guano." -- Papa

You got to make these out of tin??? What a different and fun project! Your art teacher rocks! Good job on your color choice Jaira, I love all 'cool' colors....no 'yellow' for me! XOXO DONNA

This is such a neat picture. I can see so many things besides the bridge and the bats in this picture. I have not seen the bats at this bridge but have seen them at the bat cave outside of Mason. They are fascinating to watch. Keep up the great work.

Jaira! I love that you resisted the temptation to draw a straight stem on this flower! Definitely a green flower with personality. Looks and feels more like the way real life goes...

Jaira. What a great painting. All my favorite colors. I would say add more purple for your next masterpiece because then I have a set for my art room as inspiration .

Jaira! This picture is wild! I had to look at it a long time before I finally SAW the bridge. At first I seemed to see something like three keyholes...just kept me so intrigued...then I realized the concept! Fantastic. I remember those bats from when I lived in Austin...people joked that Austin was actually the original Gotham City. If you don't know what that means, ask your Mom! Just loved everything about this picture...the mysteriousness of it suits the subject.
-- Gilda

Very good work Jaira!
-- Uncle Doug
- on February 7, 2012
Hey...nice work! Since I've moved to Austin, going to see the bats has become one of my favorite things to do and you have depicted them SO accurately. I love that you chose that shade of blue because it represents the time of 'twilight' when they fly! Keep up the good work! Love, Donna

Jaira! I love how you captured falling snow against that lilac background. That was not easy to do, and it gives the picture contrast between the falling snow (movement) and the beautiful red birds perched on the branch (stillness.) Lovely winter scene.
-- Gilda
- on February 7, 2012
Charming! Beautiful! Very heartwarming in spite of the falling snow, and ridge of snow on the limb. I like the one valiant leaf remaining on the branch, but the cardinals are sure the stars of the show!

Glorious sunrise, flaming sunset, reflecting on distant mountains perhaps? Curving topograpghy of cool earth in the foreground...well, that's my "view"! Super intensity comes through, and full of personality...love it.

OK, this is just too adorable! I am getting caught back up on your artwork, right now it is cold outside and I sure want to be on this fun beach! Happy hand(claw)-holding crabs? Oh yeah. Sand dollar that is sand colored and just see the design? Yes indeed. Shells, turtle...but my favorite is the waves and how you left white to show the crests and surf and the beautiful colors blended for the ocean! Lovely work.
-- Sarah
- on December 18, 2011

I just LOVE your little red cardinals!! They remind me of the cutest pictures I took of one taking a 'cautious' bath in my little fountain that I will have to email your Mom so you can see. How sweet that you made these a pair....ha! maybe they are 'Love birds'! : - ) Good job Jaira! XOXO Donna

Can you say "Nebraska"? Uh-huh! This is straight from the cold land up north isn't it? We can rest assured that Gilda won't be saying how it reminds her of Nicaragua.

Reminds me of the colors and varieties that will be in the coming Paradise. Walk along the center path and as you over the hill there you will be in the new world. Keep up the good work.

I am so impressed with this piece of art, Jaira. With all the vibrant colors it looks like a stained glass window. I can just imagine it hanging up with the morning sun shining through and the bright colors reflecting all over the room. Keep on bringing beauty to our eyes. Can't wait to see more. Jaira! I just love the way those colors are so uncompromising next to each other! And that purple patch on the left...a field of lilacs, perhaps? Something about this picture makes me think of the volcanoes in Nicaragua...if you saw a picture of Momotombo you would see it is shaped just like that. Good work!
-- Gilda
- on December 8, 2011
Totally awesome! The shapes, contrasting lines & colors makes it so unique. Really like this one.

Now that's a masterful job! You seem to have placed the darker colored ribbons to the back and the brighter ones to the front. That adds to the 3D effect as it seems to leap out at me. Thank you! -- Papa

Jaira! I just viewed your pieces one by one and I feel that they all share that hard-to-define quality that keeps the viewer looking and looking at the piece. There is something about your use of colors next to each other, something about the proportion in them, something in your wonderful imagination at work that makes a person STOP and really take a good look. Needless to say, I love your artwork! You can just tell that your hands, eyes, and heart are all working together. I love this latest piece..the curves next to the angles, the three-dimensions of it. Looks like a you captured a rainbow and threw it back out in your original, abstract way. Good work! Gilda

Hi Jaira! I don't know....maybe it's because it's summer or maybe it's because it's the beach, but this is my FAVORITE piece of work you've done!! I love the sea shells and you really got the little crabs 'just right' but I see you worked hard to get that sand dollar in there. "Well done!" If you get to keep the original I think your Mom should frame this one for sure! Love, Donna
-- Donna

Hi Jaira! Wow! Your radial weaving just 'pops' out at you! Isn't weaving fun? Maybe during summer time you can get some kind of weaving kit at Michael's and make something else. When I was young I had a small square 'loom' that I made pot holders on...I think those kits are still available. : - ) Love, Donna XOXO

Jaira, This is great. All of your work is very good. I enjoy seeing you do so well. I really like this one I think it is my favorite. It makes me think of the bid tree in the Bible that was so big and tall and spread out so far all the birds and animals could find shelter there. This looks like it reaches way up to the stars. Keep up the good work.

Everything looks right about this picture. The size of the hearts, the symmetry of them in contrast to the asymmetry within them. But of course, it's the glowing colors that make me really love it. You managed to combine them so that while bright they don't jar the eye. It's really lovely, Jaira! Aunt Sarah

Hi Jaira! Hey...how did you know what I looked like when I was 16?!! Good job! Love, Donna
-- Donna

The heart at the lower right makes me feel sadness because it looks like a broken heart. The one on the lower left makes me think of someone who is hurt or bleeding. The one at the upper right reminds me of someone whose heart is divided. But the one at the upper left looks like a heart filled to overflowing with love. That's the one I pick for how my heart feels for you! Love - Papa

I think I could lose myself in this picture. I look at it this way and I see this then I look at it that way and I see that. It even changes depending upon how close I am to it. In the words of Mr. Spock on Star Trek -- Fascinating! - Papa

You know, I can easily imagine this as being some ancient 2000 year old artifact found by a famous archeologist. It looks like authentic Ming Dynasty pottery work. Whoever photographed it made it look like a museum piece. Great job! - Papa
- on February 15, 2010

Wow Jaira! This has such an amazing sense of depth to it. It's just as if that background is miles deep and the ship and planets are out in front. I also like how the pictures seems darker to the lower right. That makes it seem even more "space like". You did a great job sweetie! - Papa

Jaira, 'WOW'! I LOVE this idea of displaying your artwork online! I am going to check back frequently to see what other 'master pieces' you've created. : - ) As for this work of art, I think you used the space very well. The colors really compliment each other and I was very impressed at how you used such 'free forms'...nothing that looked all 'square' and 'tight'. Good job!

WOW! I really like your beautiful artwork! You have used my favorite colors and it makes me happy to see your work. Keep up the great work!

Jaira - Sweet artwork! My favorite parts are how you got the smooth blending of background colors in there and the character in the right center that looks like a person throwing their arms up. I imagine that's me looking at the playground and shouting out "Me first!!!" :-)

Jaira all I can say is "WOW!!!" -what a colorful and vibrant picture. Truly gorgeous.
