Even among the grey of sadness, there is some light of hope, like seeds about to sprout.

Nice job capturing the detail on that key! The shading gives it a good 3-dimensional look.

That's fascinating how you drew a picture with words. Students in writing classes are encouraged to 'draw a picture with words for your reader', but I've never seen it literally done. Very cool!

So much activity in one drawing! Is that person doing a cartwheel, or did they fall off their skateboard? I’m fascinated by how the pencil strokes create texture and depth. You’ve inspired me to try it myself. Beautiful!

The figures look and read like self-portraits of a kind, generous, fun great niece who I dearly treasure!

A treehouse with a swing — now that’s a fun place to hang out!

How funny - a kitten does need 4 skis instead of 2. Imagine how hard it is to keep all 4 pointing straight ahead!

The design really sets off the difference in colors. Very cool.

The deep and serious expression on this face reminds me of the statues the ancient Greeks created. Impressive!

The diagonal lines on the side bring back memories of the stage curtains that were pulled back before Grandma Minna's concerts began. She played string bass in the Cleveland Women's Orchestra for many decades, and they held their concerts in Severance Hall.

The dark lines make a striking contrast to the soft colors in the background so they really standout. I love your choice of colors too!

Looks delicious! The shading on the apple emphasizes the full shape, beyond a flat circle. I'm going to order a magnet to post in my kitchen.

That is beautiful, Hazel! Is that a self portrait, with your long thick beautiful hair?

This is my favorite — I love cats! The colors behind the cats make for a strong contrast, and those shades all look good together.

You can tell it’s spring time in the picture, just like in real life. The branches haven’t gotten their leaves yet. Look at that beautiful blue spring sky!

I love the intense colors, Hazel, and the light spots add great contrast! The combination really grabs my attention.

I like the contrast of the black against the lighter colors. The lighter colors remind me of a nature scene at sunset.

That portrait and the story in the background are inspiring, Hazel.

How cool, Hazel! Will you be able to drink out of the mug, or is it for decoration?

Those are interesting patterns. The one on the left looks like a flight of stairs. The box shapes remind me of looking out windows at snow-covered hills at night. Please tell me more about the picture!
