Katherine shows a native American, (i'm guessing) woman with full regalia in ancient native style . With focused eyes and shamans stance, this work by Katherine builds an image of the ancient people of what is now called America, Mother Earth was the common name then as this native carries two satchels, wears a hair adonment, headress of colored feathers and black vest. What seems to be a rattle and wrist shake with a beater in the right hand would indicate a shaman with a dance and drums for accompaniment in her work, this figure was the medicine and spirtitual protector of the tribe making gestures often in rythyms, spices and herbs and many now secreted spititual rituals that summoned the bounty of mother earth to her children. Hi Katie! It was hard to pick a picture on which to comment - they are all so beautiful and special! You really have a gift for capturing the spirit of the animals and birds you paint. They all look happy, and you really get their proportions right. I was thrilled to be included in this project.
