Lillian, this is just so beautiful, just in time for spring! I love your colors, hugs and kisses

What is bliss? What is contentment? Modernity asks us this question relentlessly. Somewhere along the spectrum of answers from Buddha's Nirvana to consumerism's 5 star review, Lillian's green blob lands like a noodle cast at the wall. Blob's bland smile belies its internal complexity. The suggestion in his(her?) eyes is not of depth but that of an ever reflecting vector. You enter the gaze and are washed with bliss, then your gaze returns outward as you see the world through Blob's eyes. But the world looms beyond the tranquillity contained within Blob so again you turn back. A mirror of internal peace trapping the rays of a discordant world. Tracing the outlines of our zeitgeist with the barest thread, Lillian's work is a high water mark on an ever rising tide.

Fearless, Original, Timely, Defiant. Lillian echoes the best of herself in this highly personal work. A manifesto, written in a moment, and with only one word: SPLAT! The uniformed and uninspired are offended? Good. The delicate technical practitioners of painting are protesting? Get over it. The adults are worried? That's a them problem. Go off, Lil.

Family is front in center in our life; so close to our eyes we don't ever really see it except in rare glimpses. This piece is one of those flashes of clarity. Here Lillian moves herself, her view, outside of her body and looks on from a distant vantage and what does she see? She sees her sister, her mother, and the hot sun father above. Interestingly she chooses to render her mother the same size as herself, suggesting a precocious knowledge that the adults in her life have only learned to separate themselves from her through so many layers of subterfuge and pretense. Scaling them down and up (as with her father) all that is stripped away. What remains? The red rocks of the desert, the companionship of family without hierarchy, and indeed, most of all, love.

I am sending this work on to my friends at the Museum of Modern Art, here in New York City. They will want to be aware of your emerging talent. They will surely display this in your retrospective 2094 show. The smiling character is magnificent, and I haven't seen such dynamic and balanced composition since Jean MirĂ³. With Love, Graham
