Jackson’s vivid imagination is at work here, and his penchant for futuristic abstraction is shown in the fluidity and changing weight of the black line work. Is it a DNA strand gone awry? His geometric shapes that are pushed beyond normal may be a clue to Jackson’s thoughts on genetic manipulation. Only the artist should interpret this most thought-provoking and stunning art!

This is a really fine example of a body slightly turned away from the viewer. Jackson also rejects the ordinary striping of the zebra and makes unique abstract patterns of his own on the animal’s “canvas” hide. The viewer is welcomed to interpret the word IF at the zebra’s torso.

The story this tells me is very personal, with the textural assemblage for the right hand evoking safety, warmth, and familiar objects “on hand.” The line drawing of the left hand seems to be more about chance with dice, pain with the cactus, restriction with the bricks, and vulnerability from the gentle fringe. The left hand is saved from confusion and danger by the pencil at the center of chaos, bringing freedom of artistic expression to the whole. Bravo, Jackson! A very thoughtful piece.

Taking the color wheel beyond absolutely pure primary, secondary and tertiary colors one might see in an ordinary color wheel is a stroke of genius, Jackson! You started with the rules and then pushed each color as close as possible, without changing it beyond recognition. Using the basics of color blending as a sort of springboard got you into abstraction before you told us what was happening here, and I love it!

Your friendly charming critters appear once more, up-close and locked inside an energetic yet monochromatic world. As they usher us into their space, we are reminded that the color green evokes images of living things, spring renewal, and perhaps the intense value used for the clouds indicates they are heavy with another sign of renewal: an impending shower? Thank you for your latest joyful painting!!

Jackson, your grasp of the third dimension in a cityscape gives us a perfectly charming pair of characters in a lively setting complete with clouds shaped with delicate chiaroscuro. Excellent!!
