Hadley, what a cool picture! I love the animal standing on its back legs and kinda hugging the building--it's so cute! You have done several things to help us see the illusion of space: the lights in the buildings in the middle-ground really make you understand the idea that there are things behind the street facades, and the stripes of the rainbow sky make it seem like the horizon is very far away. The stripes on the sidewalk also help create that sense of space. I like the combination of paint and colored pencil too--the contrast of the solid colors of the paint vs the lighter colors of the pencil are very interesting together. It's so great to see your thoughtful work! Keep it up.

Hadley, I love your choice of colors for this picture. The colors of the sky are vibrant but the colors of the stores are subtle. I especially like the bright yellow windows in the tall dark buildings. You even made the Starbucks building green! Very nice work!!

This is a very spooky house, Hadley! I love that you drew it high up on a hill with that skinny staircase all the way to the top--I can imagine walking up slowly, my anxious feelings increasing on every step! The sky behind is so beautiful--did you use salt with watercolors? Or is there some other cool trick you learned? I think that would be beautiful for a winter scene too...it looks so icy and cool. Hope you continue to explore your creativity at school and beyond. xo

Hadley, I love this figure! It has such personality, even without a face. It makes me think of a cheerleader, with the pompoms and the striped outfit—maybe it’s a self-portrait? I think the way you balanced it on a cork is also very interesting—it looks like it’s walking on a tightrope somehow. Keep it up! Xo Courtney

How did I miss seeing this one? I love the three trees and how each one is different. The sky is particularly amazing--it looks like the Northern Lights! I hope you get to see them some day, as they are incredibly beautiful, just like your drawing.
