Wow! What memories of Hawaii this evokes, Carter! I love your detailed palm trees in the sunset light and the beautiful contrast of the fine black lined trees against the bright and varied sky. The dark surface below the trees seem like the sun has indeed set, and the blues and red are reflecting the sky, like the ocean! The waves seem textured and wiggly, like the water ripples- what talent:)

This kitty looks like it went on quite a celestial adventure! I enjoy the light and dark pointillism stars and constellations giving effect of both far and nearer ones, the cute way the character is sitting on the ring…seems to be both in and out of the window providing 3-D depth, and the different shades of blue for the planet. Your skills are growing, Carter!

That’s quite a cute craft companion you skillfully sewed, Carter! May Trevor and Cuddly enjoy many fun days together with you.

He named him Trevor, to be best friends with Cuddly. He is very loved.

What an interesting mixed media piece! This looks like one i’d like to view in person with the complex layers, 3D images, and line effects popping out at us. I’d love to know your inspiration:)

Wow, Carter’s artwork has so much vibrancy and detail! I think this is my favorite work so far:) The colors , the perspective large and small, the variation in landscape height, movement with birds, and lighting included. I love birch trees and the detail on them as well. Bravo!!

Carter, your attention to detail and extended process is amazing! I can see you sketched, then colored with pastels, then painted. The colors are so rich and deep- oil pastels are so vivid! You provided realistic groupings and sizes of pumpkins, and I love the bit of yellow added on the left of each pumpkin making them look moon-kissed :)

Sooooome pumpkins! They’re both happy and scary, just like you like.

Oh, Carter, what a great 3-D art piece you made! The hand with objects in the middle remind me of your collections, and your gathering the rocks, shells, glass and beads in the palm of your hand. When we can touch things that means they are tangible. Your sense of touch, and collecting, and crafting with your hands is a wonderful part of you.

Grandpa and I think this piece of yours is a very modern design, and such an interesting technique! It must have been fun using a marble, too, finding patterns and using markers and paints as well. I enjoy the way the colors compliment each other and that you brought design even to the edges. Maybe you can show us how you did it!

This still life of fruits is particularly interesting in the different shades of each fruit and the way you shaded parts of them just like they ripen with various colors and shaded areas. My eye is drawn to the beautiful blues and purples, and oranges toward the center. Your lines on as well the pear with dark stem and greenish area on it as well is very realistic!

Such careful intricate work, Carter! The darker lined shapes really stand out as the foreground, while the lighter ones seem more distant. I like how you used the whole canvas in this one, too! You are a very patient artist!
