I am not familiar with this type of art but it's cool. I like how the colors ran together.

Nice birdie. Looks like it is getting ready to take off.

Looks like a lot of wind and this cardinal(?) is holding on to the branch for dear life. His wings are helping him too! I can feel that wind from here!! Fabulous motion!

Oooh, 3D art! I love it. Is this a decorative knife? I like the design you've carved (not sure that's the right word?) in the red parts. Or maybe it's a really tall and slender ice cream cone, with cherry topping on the side and a smashed cherry on the bottom. OK, maybe not. Either way, I want to pick it up and look at it more closely!

Excellent half-portrait, Oliver! I wonder if you drew it freehand or were allowed to trace the other side of the photo. You probably had to draw, not trace—this is art class, after all! Beautiful work.

Wow Oliver! Excellent rendering of you, or half of you. ha ha! You did really well on the facial features! I like the shading around the nose - looks very 3D!

Great work Oliver!

I like the different shades of green for the trees. Your brush strokes for the snow on the branches really make it look like snow clinging to an evergreen tree. Love this!

I love the brushwork in this painting, Oliver! You did excellent work differentiating the evergreen boughs from the snow on them as well as differentiating the snow on the trees with the snow on the ground. The smooth blue wash in the background really makes everything in the foreground pop!

Very nicely done. I feel the chill of the snow and can see the boughs hanging low with it.

I see your 6-7 pattern you sneaky rascal! Ha ha! These patterns look like they could be used to make some beautiful quilts! I bet Jesus, Mary and Joseph would like them.

I love your nativity drawing! Mary’s face is so happy. Is baby Jesus wearing sunglasses because the star of Bethlehem is so bright?!? Fabulous. Awesome patterns; I like the detail.

I really like how you divided up your brain!
Posted 6 months ago by Allison (Mother)

You really captured great examples for both sides of the brain! This must be your brain because it looks very smart and creative. What made you choose the lyrics to that song, I wonder?

This is fantastic, Oliver! I see so many connections in this drawing. What made you think to include the lyrics from Train? The lines you drew are so clear and confident. The color contrast between the two sides of the drawing reinforces the creative (lots of color) vs analytical (minimal color) hemispheres of the brain you drew. This is superb!

This is a wonderful print, Oliver. I can't quite make out all the symbols, but I see either a peace sign or Mercedes trademark and a football. Is that a talking waffle at the bottom? Peace, football, and waffles!!!

Wow! What an interesting collage, Oliver! It reminds me of Surrealist art from the 20th century. I particularly like your use of color in this piece.

Oooh! This snowman looks like he is experiencing some serious heat! I wonder what it is on that side, out of the picture, that is creating that heat on him?...The sun? A fire? Hmm... And the other side of him looks nice and cool. Love it!

You did a great job blending the oil pastels you used for this snowman, Oliver. I am also impressed with the highlights and shadows that show me where the sun is located in relation to the snowman. Great party hat!

Beautiful, Oliver! The precision of your drawing of each bulb is impressive; I like the detail of each filament. The blending gives a lovely glow to each light. Dazzling!

This makes me very aware of all the bones in my face. I love the blended/gradient orange outline. Makes it look like it's glowing!

Spooky! The outline of the skull looks like neon—you achieved a great affect there.

Oooh! Great abstract Oliver! I love how the lines and shapes intersect. Do much activity!

Beautiful, Oliver. I like the shapes and primary colors within the large circle. The shapes on the left look like they form a kind of fin, and that makes the large circle look like it’s moving. Is that a sideways happy face I see in the top left corner? It looks like it’s moving in the wake of the large circle as well. So much to see here!

Lovely!! The heavier lines of the cross make it look strong and in the forefront of the image. The soft lines of the tree make it look lighter and softer and more in the background.

Excellent line work, Oliver. Your lettering is very good as well. I like the muted tree in the background. Is that a Pac-Man I see?

Yep. you are zesty

This is very zesty artwork, Oliver! The lettering is excellent. I really like how the lightning Y is dripping sauce on to the chunky C and beyond. I want to have barbecue for dinner now!

This is really good perspective work, Oliver. I want to run out the door at the far end of this room to play outside!

This is gorgeous, Oliver. Exquisite detail and coloring. I really like the tear duct in the corner of the eye. I want to tell a story about this dragon.

This looks cool. Literally cool. I want to touch and feel it because it looks like you have some different textures going on! Nice! It's very calming. It's very "Jack Frost" like!

What a beautiful wintry piece! You used a few different media to create art that looks icy and snowy. I feel chilly and refreshed looking at it. I like this a lot.

Looks like springtime! I like the different shades of brown on the trunk and branches.
Posted 2 years ago by Nenny

The brush strokes you used on the branches give them texture like a real tree. And those blossoms! They are beautiful impressions of the flowers on cherry trees. I like it a lot!

I really like the Cherry Blossoms. Makes me think of the massive Cherry Blossom festival in Spring.

The muted colors of this drawing are very relaxing. The juxtaposition of the red ornament with the greens of the branch is attractive. This drawing makes me feel calm amidst the holiday hubbub. I like this a lot!

What an amazing job!! Each drawing you do gets better and better!

This is very well done!!!

Nice artwork Oliver! There is a lot of interest movement in this piece. I like the way the strokes of all the colors are horizontal and the way the round outline shapes suggest a circular motion. Then there is that itty bitty lean or sway of the dandelion looking part. (Sorry if that isn’t what it is - I’m just trying to describe what I’m referring to.) I’m really drawn into that smaller circular shape and I want to know what is going on in there!!
Posted 3 years ago by Nenny

I love this drawing, Oliver! I like the theme of circles, and I really like the different ways you expanded your drawing from those circles.
