The colorful feathers on this owl are bright and cheerful. It looks like the owl is wearing a winter puffer jacket. The bristle feathers around the bird’s eyes almost look like goggles. Maybe there is a ski trip planned with the hearts surrounding the owl expressing happiness and joy!

This is a delicious looking chocolate layer cake! All of those beautiful layers…..their subtle range of color and the perfectly frosted chocolate crown with the artful icing dripping down. Looks like maybe chocolate sprinkles or candy curls are spread across the cake top. The artist has painted a small sprig of cherries at the back of the cake, indicating there may be an additional flavor mixed with the chocolate. Finally, the delicious dessert sits atop a fancy pink cake stand, looking like it is ready to be placed in a bakery shop window. Some lucky customer or friend has enjoyed a single slice. Delish!

Some very detailed design work on this animal’s ears and body. I’m thinking this might be a young female rabbit….on the basis of the ears and pink hearts pattern repeated on the ears, nose and body. The rabbit’s eyes are especially striking as she stares directly at the world with a tiny, demure smile. I wonder about the title of the drawing and the nature of the assignment.

How did the artist layer Edwina's feathers? Did she use pink or yellow as the first layer? And, what is the color stick? Is it paint, marker or crayon? Edwina's feathers look wispy as if painted, yet, her earrings appear to be made with markers?

This artwork tells me a lot about the artist. Using color, words and symbols I can see that music, dance and gymnastics are some of her favorite things. Barley Sheaf red seems to be her favorite color, hearts her favorite symbol and Love her most important word. All of these elements tell me that the artist is a happy person who enjoys making art. And, it makes me smile!

Looks like a skating snow queen, practicing her figure eights on ice. I wonder if she's cold? Are her checks rosie because of the cold? Maybe, but the hearts on her cheeks might be makeup as part of a dress performance. I wonder if she dreams of going to the winter Olympics!

Avery's use of color on the iguana is bright and tropical. The colorful leaves that accent the image and the pink and white picture frame produce a cheerful and fun feeling!

Good symmetry and balance in the face of this happy monster and in her dress and shoes. The pattern on her dress is happy even without bright colors. I wonder if she is dressed up for school or maybe a birthday party! Only the artist knows.

At first I thought this is a happy triangle ice skating....but then I saw the title "penguin," and recognized Penny, a happy first grade penguin, skating at a friend's birthday party.

What a friendly looking giraffe! Not sure if she is winking at me or her eyes are different colors?

Good choice of color and lots of fun detail, especially the purple stars. The colorful flowers and stars make me smile.
