I like that you took a unique approach to this piece by using the angled perspective and added the fantasy aspect. You let yourself just go with your own rules and I hope it was fun for you. Interesting discovery you learned about the highlighting. Your proportions and detail on the girl are great- did you do that from a photo or is this a fictional person? Keep up the good work!

Such a great job! You did an absolutely amazing job on the feather details. I like your thought process along the way, too. Keep up the good work!

I love gouache! The thickness is really fun to work with. Again, you did very well with it, and especially with the ripples.

That is a really fun drawing! I love the colors, shapes, contrast and surrealism.

I love your flamingos, and the ripples! Your shading is so very good--the flamingo on the right is my favorite. I also love how realistic the floating objects appear. Nice job on the ripples. Gouache is fun. I used it for the first time two years ago and I hope to use it more in the future. You seem to do very well with it. You should be proud.

Unique, indeed! What a creative way to present your data. What is the medium for this work? Can’t wait to see more!

Very nice! I like how you did the petals on the ground. It's a nice touch. I also like how you outlined the petals because, for a minute, I didn't know if it was magazine clippings or individually designed leaves and it made me think.

PS TEMPERA PAINT? How in the world did you do that? You truly are amazing.

So many textures! I love how it looks like it's dripping.

This is so pretty. I wish you could walk me through the process! It could be a very high-end wallpaper. Love the stamp and the circles.

That is fabulous! The crystals are SO COOL. What did you use for the white drawings on the blue?

That is fun!!! I love the colors! I made something similar when I was your age, believe it or not! I'd love to know what you use it for.

Contrary to what your artist statement says, it does not look incomplete to me. I think the texture in tthe fur is great and not overworked. You added the thickness with the color tones. In addition to the detail, you’ve captured a “feel” to this work. This is one polar bear I wouldn’t mind chillin’ with!

Love the blues in this. Good placement and overall design. The glue marks weren’t noticeable in the photo of this piece but if you are able to use rubber cement, it rubs right off if you happen to go over the edge?? Can’t wait to see what you do next!

PS: I forgot to add that I like the dog peeking in!

Balance, indeed! I see it. I’m curious…did you watercolor the sections and then go in and outline the painted areas? It appears from the edges that doodled design was first, then watercolor. If so, how did the outlined ink not bleed? ??

The execution is masterful. The left hand side reminds me of a table runner that is pushed to one side thereby giving a wavy appearance.

I see movement in this piece. And dimension that gives it a nice vibe. Interesting that you stated it wasn’t your type of project - but good that you recognize that and even if you weren’t completely engaged, you did a great job!

Kate! Your letters do glow! Very nicely done lettering. I like your name in stair step style - very unique. The bricks and the highlighting on the border give it such boldness along with the white background against the letters. Bravo!

Kate, How great to see your art assignments. I’m impressed! You especially made a great use of texture. I like that you are required to think about your work and write a critique. I helps to learn about your style and filter your content.
