Reid you are really becoming a fine artist with a lot of creativity! I love the colors in this.

Fun portrait! I would not have picked a Giraff as one of Reid's favorite animals, but this appears to be a very friendly, fun, fantastical creature.

Reid's rocket compares favorably with the current vogue of "transformers." Rocket is not the central player in the drawing so viewer feels he may be "lost in space."

Reid's imagination is becoming more and more precise. Looking at the spaceman's suit, see the detail around the elbows and knees. Love the space man's big smile like it's really fun to be in outer space.

Love all the colors you’ve used and it looks like you’re having a great time in outer space!

I love the curving line (probably a bridge) and the moonlighted ocean surface. Under the sea, Reid's submarine's light depicts some strange imaginative figures which include a "basketball turtle." Overall, a really fun illustration.

Wow Reid everything looks so real I felt like I was in the submarine! Love all the mixes of colors too! Love you - ShuShu

Honestly, I've looked at this art work for more than a year but have no clue what Reid is going for here.

Reid really captures the power of the wave. I see he depicts the speed and power of the wave using colors. His "surfer" is insignificant compared with the forces of nature.

Good job Reid!

I knew this was Reid's work immediately be cause I was along with him at Edisto Beach this Summer. We saw lots of Pelicans, which he represents wonderfully as well as Palm trees. I believe he portrays him self with a surf board in the fore ground. These are very happy memories for me as well.

Here Reid demonstrates his mastery of color combinations. I love the way he has deconstructed the scene. The fishbowl doesn't need to sit on a stool or table, the fish became a simple shape yet appears to be swimming.

Great jar of fireflies. Can't wait to go out at night soon to catch some this summer.

I think Reid has a little Monet in him.

Here Reid shows an appreciation of the Grandma Moses style. He has also learned to depict items in the foreground with greater detail and items in the background as fewer and smaller and with less detail. I look forward to seeing his future works of art.

Reid has well captured a Chinese New Year. In the background, fireworks in the night sky are displayed. He has added a 3D effect with his rendering of a Chinese Dragon by folding paper to mimic the dragon in parade style. I believe Reid is tuned in to Chinese culture.

Pandas are universally seen as "huggable" with those large eyes and playful rollie poly attitude. Reid zeros in on the Panda's eyes but also represents the bear as a bit skinny but with arms and legs wide open to give one a full 4 appendage hug. Who wouldn't want that?

Most folks if asked to draw an elephant, would sketch a view of the beast from a side view as if the elephant is parading past. Reid shows the elephant in a front. It is as if he is readying to take on the elephant to protect others. There is also a comic twist in that Reid put an insect in each of the of the elephant's ears. Reid seems to say the beast is huge but even little bugs can live together with the largest entity.

It appears Reid was in a playful mood as he represents the Giraffe, as a youthful. I see the white outline as water, perhaps being squirted by his friend the baby elephant.

In this work, Reid demonstrates his ability to move quickly from the natural to the practical. Apparently, he hears "paintbrush" he thinks of an artist tool. His depiction of a paintbrush as a simple tool--no extra leaves to interfere with putting paint on wood or rock.

We see that Reid (aka Matthew) has selected the wolf over the bear. Reid shows us his internal interpretation (fight or flight) of the wolf-like creature. Here the red (danger) is the recognition of the wolf's teeth, snarling, biting or worse. However, Reid places the white (peaceful) color to be like the creature's tail. He may see this as a friendly, wagging tail, or it perhaps is wolf the running away making him feel safe. Extraordinary!

Here Reid changes the plane, by moving the Aztek sun from a sky view to a modern map of the ongoing Palestine Israle conflict. Note the depictions pf IDF (Isrrael Defense Force) and Hamas positions.

The artist, Reid, interrupts the assigned culture of the Aztecs, features the sun god. Reid presents the sun god as an eye - perhaps the all seeing eye. As a young artist, Reid sees the TV news focusing on the current war. Reid is presenting a view of the conflict as seen from far above.

This is a departure from Reid's recent portfolio featuring modern interpretations of his fantasy. We can see that Reid presents the natural world here illustrates (I think) the two deer in a Fall forest.

Very Avante guard. Reid has a great eye for color pairings with dramatic shapes.

Love the conversion of space and color.

I love Reid's (aka Matthew)use of color and space. I'm going to have to redecorate so as to have a free wall to mount photocopies of his art projects.
