Hi, Austin! Woops! I wrongly referred to this piece in a comment to Madison as "The Hand," instead of "The Puppet!" I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me! Ha, ha! You must be busy with classes and all, because I haven't seen any new art work recently. That's okay; I'm sure you'll have something before long. I sure hope we see you and your family around Resurrection Sunday! I love you, Grandma..

Hi, Austin! I'm glad I got to see this in person. I love the hand part! Collages look fun. Isn't there one or two Bible verses somewhere?! Those little letters are impossible for me to read! Anyway, it's great, and, as always, so "AUSTIN!" Love you, Grandma Lynne

Hi, Austin. This is new to me! I don't know what the assignment specified, but this is really good. You obviously had to take great care in all your color choices. It is very precisely done. I examined it to see what pattern you were using, and I saw that the colors of the tongues of the shoes were in reverse order from the colors of the backgrounds and the main part of each shoe. You did an amazing job replicating each shoe. AND, I love the little guy on the front of each shoe... IT'S SO "AUSTIN!" Love you! Grandma Lynne

This looks like it was a fun art project, Austin! I like the various line drawings in the piece and I love that you must have already known about the lifestyle of these native people or had to research them. Have you ever seen cave art? There is a place not far from Uncle Nathan and Aunt Jen's that has native art work. It's called "Painted Rocks." Maybe sometime we could take the trail to see them. Great job on this! I'm looking forward to seeing all of you to celebrate Christmas together. Love, Grandma Lynne

Oh my goodness, Austin! This is absolutely excellent! I love it! The lighted area around the cup's shadow is very realistic. I also love the way you placed the cup out of the center of the piece...so much more interesting! This is very like a black and white photograph. I am very impressed. I love you greatly! Hi, Austin. Of course, I know nothing about the video game "Castle Crashers," which is pretty much true for me for all video games! LOL. I like the simplicity of this little guy. I also like his unusual eyes. He looks friendly to me; is he a "good" character? Love, Grandma Lynne

Hi! Well, I like the yellow and pink eye! I know very little about cubism art, but I'd like to learn more about it. I really like this piece! I like the lines you included. Though it is a specific art form, it is still very Austin! Love you! G'Ma L.

You didn't say anything about this piece except the name, "Block 1 Projects" so I will let me imagination run wild. I see a jester running into a carefully laid trap. The real big guy on the right has laid out his bait and the jester thinks that if he eats the walnut and banana at the same time, it will be just like banana bread. What he doesn't see is the dark shadow of the villain that will strike as soon as he touches the bait.

Hey, Austin! I think it's funny how, upon realizing that you weren't on the right track, you entitled this "The Accident!" Actually that really does look look like fire! We're down at Aunt Kari's in Texas. She likes your piece, but wondered if the people are going to get out. Your moon is very unique with the crescent within the roundness. It's interesting...this way you have the two buildings completedly separated from each other makes me think of the absolute gulf there is between our Holy Perfect God and totally sinful humanity. We are completely unable in any way to bridge that separation. But, praise God, that the unique God-Man Jesus Christ alone was able to do that for us, His Sacrifice providing the way for us to have Eternal Life through Him!! We're planning to come over on Thursday, October 30, so we'll see you soon! Anxious to see you all! Love you, Grandma Lynne

Hi, Mr. A.! These are certainly opposites! Sun vs. moon, day vs. night, plant (living, growing) vs. fire (destruction of life). Good thinking! I can see where you'd have liked the stars to be more obvious, but the piece does a great job of illustrating opposites. Love you! G'Ma Lynne

Hi, Grandma Lynne here! You did a great job with your characters looking happy and sad. That poor little blue guy looks SO sad! It was very creative of you to think of using such contrasting colors to help emphasize their opposite moods. Great job, Austin! (P.S. The happy guy has a bit of a "monkey" look!)

Well, Austin! You certainly succeeded in making this artwork both confusing and abstract! I really like it. Your colors are beautiful. I have little to no experience with oil paints, so I am very impressed. Obviously, your title for it is perfect! Love you, Grandma Lynne

Austin, this is great! You did a really great job making the room look dark!.I like how outside the window it's lighter with the sky, stars, and moon. I also love the way I can see the numbers on the alarm clock. Your comments about the little guy being there and the details about the drawers were really creative and fun. Excellent job! Love, Grandma Lynne

This is really good, Austin. You followed you ur assignment well. He looks terribly sunburned and lost! I hope he has water with him! I like the green (cactus?), too. It adds some interest to your warmer colors. Love you! Grandma Lynne

Hey, Austin! I wish I could see this larger. I was just reading about Edvard Munch recently. It looks really good and fun that you have a photo of yourself, too. It sounds like it was a big project. I hope to see it in person. You did a great job. Love, Grandma Lynne

I never saw this crazy little guy til now! I guess he's kinda a plant (?), but with a cup for a head. Really cute! I also like the "random-ish" (is that a word?) penny in the sky. Very well done!

Austin, this is very dramatic and very unique. I have never seen a cross that is also an image of the Person of Christ. The crown depicts that our Resurrected Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords forever! I really like the contrast of the black with the beautiful sky. But most of all, I am incredibly thankful that you have trusted in Christ alone for salvation and that you desire to grow in your faith. I love you, Grandma Lynne

You'll have to tell me about this sinking ship! What is the little guy doing? He's a very dark figure. I'm looking forward to seeing you in January!

Just saw this! "The Office" is hilarious, though it can also be inappropriate. Good drawing on your part. And, of course, a definite scary aspect!

Okay, Austin, even though you said you made this piece less creepy, it is STILL really creepy! Your head looks a lot like you...good job! You really are a very long snake! But I'm glad you're really a 14 year old guy! Love you, Grandma Lynne

This looks like a mix-up between a map and your little creatures! I really like the colors you chose. You are very meticulous in your art work and you have such a personal and unique style. It's called "Austin Art!" (Or maybe you can think of a better name!) Love you, G'Ma Lynne

I love it Austin! I love the creepy light you have hanging behind him too, the chain looks amazing. You did a really nice job with the shading. He has really intense eyes. :) I love that you made him up with your imagination.

This is such a fun piece of art! I guess it’s what they call a mash-up, where you incorporate two really different things in one picture. I bet you had a lot of fun drawing and coloring this…is this watercolors? Great job, Austin! ??

Wow, Austin! I had to look this up. I found it is a 1901 oil on canvas painting by a French Post-Impressionist artist named Paul Cezanne. (I love the French Impressionist artist Claude Monet. I have a lot of reproductions of his work.) I am very impressed with your work here! The shading is absolutely excellent! The crack on the white skull is very interesting. You are really growing in your art work. As they say in French, “Vous avez fait tres bien!” I love you!

Hi, Austin! This is a really good frog skeleton! When I was in 10th grade biology, we had to dissect a frog. It was kinda gross. (We dissected a worm, too!) I don’t remember actually getting to the skeleton, so now I have a great drawing of what it would look like. I’m so happy that you love drawing and are learning so much! Love you!

Austin, I like your frog skeleton! There's so much detail, and the back legs are really accurate. It looks like a real skeleton! Good job

What do you call this guy?! If you were wanting to make him look evil, you nailed it! I love the greens and yellow in his body. I bet you had a lot of fun with this project! Love you, Grandma Lynne

Yep, it looks like a disaster to me! I’d hate to be in the middle of all that! ?? I’m glad you were happy with the changes you decided to make. Are you using chalk on black paper? I love that you are learning about different mediums. Love, Grandma Lynne

I’m so happy to hear how pleased you are with this piece of art! It certainly has a “Superman” vibe to it, due to the overall shape. I look forward to talking to you about how it symbolizes who you are…”Austin’s Symbol”! Yes, red is great for you! I love you, Grandma L.
