I love how you used the eggshells to represent how fragile the flower is. It makes me a little sad that it is your last piece, but it is a very fitting piece. As you wrap up your high school years, don't forget that life is a very fragile thing. Be careful, be smart and stay your sweet beautiful self!!

This picture puts a lump in my throat! As you get ready to graduate from high school, nostalgia is REAL! I see 2 year-old little Ally swinging on the swings, going down the slide and picking me a beautiful bouquet of buttercups and dandeflowers. Then there is 12 year-old Ally hanging upside down with her legs wrapped around the swings. And now you are this beautiful young lady, getting ready to set out on a whole new adventure on your own! May this picture always remind you to find the fun and beauty in life, even when you are in the midst of weeds! I love you, Girl! (That swing set and sky are so real looking.)

Perseverance is hard and will sometimes feel like the image in your piece, but always keep on keeping on. Just like you did with this project. You have set out to complete 12 very different projects and it hasn't always been easy, but once you get it done, the result is beautiful. That applies to a lot of things in life. "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him" "...we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance produces character, and character produces hope" Bless you my beautiful girl!

There is poetic depth to your art, Ally! You bring so many different elements together into one beautiful story. I pray that you can keep that same focus and determination alive in you as you walk through the struggles life throws at you. Perseverance produces character...and character, hope... I read that in a really good book!!!

Perfect timing on this one, the daffodils are starting to bloom. I love how you used the daffodil as a dress! I never would have been able to envision that. The canopies over the light, either, for that matter. You have been blessed with such vision and creativity!

You put so much thought into your artwork. Ally. Your work is a visual extension of your wonderful, creative and compassionate mind and heart. This piece shows that you have a gift to see beauty in a painful world. What a blessing!

The shading of the trees on this piece is so realistic! That girl sitting in amongst all that anxiety looks exactly like your reference picture - you! May you never know that much anxiety and stay your care-free, happy, endlessly chatty, beautiful self!

Dear Girta, I love this painting because it makes me chuckle. it is a really cool piece and despite your struggles with Girta, it turned out incredibly well. The way you have the snake and the hand connected is pretty neat. You received a lot of praise for this piece from random people which just shows how good you are!

The colors in this are beautiful. I love how you have her coming out of the water. You have a very creative thought process with your pieces!

I LOVE it. You've had some personal experience in this subject, too! So 'deceptively' ssssubtle, even for my trained eye.

The flower is beautiful!! I knew WHAT you were trying to show, but until reading your artist statement, I missed WHO the flower represented. That changed my whole perception when I looked at your piece. I can see the kid hiding behind the adult, what a great way to represent that with the peony! Your brother is well done, too.

You know there is someone out there holding on to the end of your red string! I love to listen to you plan your piece as you talk yourself through the tough parts. It always turns out amazing. The flower theme is so you, but what I love most of all, is that your pieces are you!

Seems like only yesterday you were blowing those "dandy flowers"! You were as beautiful then as you are now! May you always be amazed and interested by things in nature as you were then, appreciating the beauty in things that others see as nothing but pesky weeds.

This one takes me back in time! I'm so proud of that happy little girl and who she has become. I know your granddaddy would love it, too, even with the dandelions!

I know how hard you worked on this piece. It did not bring you tranquility, but it turned out well. The book is my favorite part! You did a great job with the embroidery on the book and it really made it pop. Now, if you could just learn to love reading, you would find that there is tranquility to be found, not only between the covers of your bed, but between the covers of a book. Love you, Girl!

I love the headband! It draws the eyes right to the daisies. But, what I love most of all, is the way this piece reminds me of you. As a sweet and innocent little girl, you used to dance around with the flowers you picked. You have captured that memory. You just didn't dance in the middle of the streets of Staunton. :)

Ally, I am always impressed by the way you see the world and express that vision in your artwork. The contrast of the rigid linear street to the young girl is so subtle but powerful. In a very wonderful way, she reminds me of you!

You have a wonderful way of translating the thought in your artwork into words--that in itself is artistic expression. I'm so grateful that you share that gift!

You truly do get lost in your music!! This picture draws me in and I can feel the music. (I also can feel your music at home, too, as the walls thump! :)

Hang in there, Ally! I love your perspective, in all sorts of ways!

I know you struggled with how this one turned out, but as always, it is amazing! Looking at it in just the right way makes my stomach flip. Guess we won't be going up in the Sears Tower or Empire State Building, will we?!

This is cute! The green part does look like lettuce. Your creativity makes me smile! Be careful, your caterpillar stuffie might just eat the lettuce!

This is absolutely beautiful!! I love the colors. The quality of your work is superior and amazes me! You are a true artist with a gift for picking up new skills and excelling at them. I am so glad that you have a new hobby and can't wait to see what you do with it! A blue blanket will be really cool (or warm - haha!) ;)

Beautiful!! I love the blue. I know that you are impatient with waiting, so I am glad you gave this time to set. The big one does look like an eyeball. This could be a fun summer project for us!!

This is so pretty! I now see what you mean about a continuing pattern. You matched these up perfectly and created a beautiful piece of work. Thank you for sharing what you learn in class with me!

I love this! You took on those French knots and won! This really turned out well. I love how the knots give it such a unique texture and color. It really looks like the petals of the cherry blossoms.

What a beautiful way to capture one of the best places on Earth. Looking at these makes me feel as if I am looking at the real thing. You captured the feeling as well as the image itself. You did a wonderful job with the shading. I know you weren't too pleased with it, but I think it turned out just fine. Your talent continues to amaze me!

These pieces are so you, Ally Rae! I love your use of color and how you put so much thought into what you are doing. These are soo cute!

Funny, but I was going to comment on how well your shading added depth! From my limited experience, woodburning requires precision and patience--otherwise, it's just burned wood!

Those ARE a LOT of French knots! All that attention and effort give so much depth and texture to the piece--& I am now REALLY ready for spring! Beautiful!

You did another awesome job, Ally Rae! I hope that one day you get to travel and check off all of these places. Maybe you could take me along??!! ;)

You succeed in so many ways! A wee bit creepy, yep. Subtly surreal. Once again, though, it's your thoughts behind the piece that impress me. Keep those creative roots growing!
Posted 3 years ago by Uncle Robin

CREEPY!!!! But nicely done. You put a lot of work and thought into this one.:)
