Deeply moved by this piece! I believe this to be the artist's commentary on the bleak future promised by continuing the destruction of the planet. The artist is the beautiful butterfly who has just emerged from her cocoon. She has transformed through the metamorphosis of childhood. But after emerging into the world as this new awe inspiring being (an adult) she is greeted with the aftermath of what is left behind by the countless generations of butterflies before her who did not consider the future of butterflies yet to come. Dandelions serve as the primary food source for bees and other pollinators (like butterflies) in the early spring. They are crucial for their survival, but here in the picture, the dandelions appear charred, past the need for pollination and well past their ability to provide useful nectar to these creatures that is vital for survival! But the bee and butterfly will continue to keep searching and flying, knowing that just because what's on the horizon may not always look promising, it doesn't mean its colors aren't still beautiful.
