I don’t see the assignment comments on this one…so I can only comment on the visual. I very much like this colorful, abstract portrait. The placement of the jewelry is super cool.

What a great looking portrait of a great man in American history…researcher, inventor & advocate for racial equality. Love your handling of the medium & your defining lines on his suit jacket! The red & blue background along with the white of his shirt is very American indeed!

Hi, Taran, The stain glass background really pops! ….and Peanut butter is the best! Thanks G. Washington Carver. Love, Mimi
- Mimi on March 20, 2024
Hi Taran…nice work as always. Yep, we sure do love peanut butter! I actually didn’t know very much about G. W. Carver other than his famous name. So I googled…to find that Dr. Carver established an agriculture extension in Alabama and founded an industrial research lab where he worked tirelessly on the development of hundreds of applications for new plants. Carver discovered more than 300 uses for peanuts and hundreds more uses for soybeans, pecans and sweet potatoes.

Taran….your cat is the coolest cat ever!!! I love your folk arty stylization. I see it was a free time project…so naturally I’m wondering how the idea was “born.” Next time we talk, I’m asking! Love it. ( I’d be careful or I’ll have an entire wall full of your art!!??) xo

Taran, I am very impressed with this technique as well as with your handling of the mediums. It’s quite effective! I’d like to try this myself. Perhaps we can do one together next time I visit. Needless to say…I may need to purchase a souvenir of this one. Aunt Lori also loves this piece and will purchase a magnet.?? ???? xoxo Bubby

I LOVE your 3D work, Taran! I see your additional understanding of perspective with the houses drawn smaller as they go farther up the mountain as well as the change in color from brighter to more subdued. Great looking goat too

Hi, Taran , I missed this one too. Wow! Your watercolor sky is terrific. I was going to ask how you made that special effect with the dots…read the lesson info and see you used salt! Your use of paper for the trees makes it a perfect mixed media project!! Love, Mimi

Great portrait of a very happy kid with lots of self confidence showing strongly in the foreground while other human emotions that do occasionally edge in hovering behind. I knew it was a self portrait immediately, Taran. Your drawing skills & eye for detail has matured greatly. Your self portrait shouts: “ This is me,Taran!!!“

Taran, I like your last piece of this school year so much that I might need to order a print. Then I’ll have two from your study of Kusama! I must admit that although I’m familiar with her 3 Pumpkins, I don’t recognize her style in this one….but I LOVE it as an original Taran style!!! Looking forward to more Artsonia next school year…but first…summer vacation!!!! xoxo Bubby

Hi, Taran, I thought I left a comment but Artsonia says I didn’t. Sooo…..The birch trees are spectacular…and I love birch trees. I remember your Mom saying you did a certain technique to get that texture of birch. Sky and shadows I love. Dramatic landscape. Terrific! Love, Mimi

Hi, Taran, The tree reminds me of the birch that is now out front of the cottage in Maine. I am looking out the window now. If if wasn’t cloudy, the setting sun would be just where you have it and revealing all those branches! See you soon! Love, Mimi

Taran, I somehow missed this colorful drawing and I'm so very happy to see it now! Beautiful! I don't see the assignment description so I can't comment on that, but I do like your artwork very much.....to me it could be a flower, or a sun or even paddles from a kayak or canoe on a lake....my imagination wanders in your creativity. Nice job!

Hi Taran, Another wonderful work of art & very good interpretation of Georgia O'Keefe's work! Good eye, guy! xoxo Bubby

Taran…this is really great. I wish I knew more about the project assignment. I did read that this is a portrait of artist Kehinde Wiley, known for his portrait of President Obama & that you’ve added your own additions to the portrait. I love the way you titled your work “King” with that regal crown being very appropriate, jewel and all. I like the neck piece too! I love your choice of red for the background color giving the King an even more regal, powerful look.

Terrific watercolor of Monarch butterflies! Love it!
- Mimi on November 3, 2021
Wow, Taran! This is one of your most beautiful paintings for sure! I LOVE the bright color combination! In my mind I can smell that purple & yellow flower and see those gorgeous butterflies fluttering their wings. I even learned something new! I knew of the Monarch's annual migration to Mexico, amazing in itself, but I didn't know the migration had a spiritual connection to The Day of the Dead. Totally awesome, Taran!A big thumbs up to you my dear.
