What a pretty owl! I like the use of angles that reflect the coat of feathers and the face. The owl also has different colored eyes. I wonder if it changes the way the owl sees his world? Does one eye make the world seem blue and the other make the owl see green shades? I also like how you shaded his face and beak. Another fine drawing by Finlay Schwartz! Grandpa S

What an intriguing picture! I would call it “Reaching for the Sky”. The mushroom is the seat of imagination that sends us upward by whatever means we use. We can fly up in a machine with wings or in a bubble. Or perhaps on a broomstick like a witch. We can do it whatever way we try. Grandpa S.

What an interesting art work. A Chinese dragon that has been carefully crafted with colored strips. I like the eyes and the way it seems to be looking at me. It looks scary and if I saw this in a dark room, I might run away. I like your ingenious talent. Good job. Granda S

Such a cute “Taco Fish” you made for your latest school art class. I like the teeth and eyes. The contrasting colors are nice too. I wonder how this fish would taste as a taco? Great job! You are doing so well! Keep it up! Grandpa S.

What a beautiful picture of the galaxy! I like the way you put mountains in the foreground and made the planets hang in the sky. Space is a fascinating subject and one day people will be traveling great distances to see what is there and how it looks. I think your picture is a great preview of that experience. Keep up the good work and study hard so that you can achieve your desired goals. Love, Grandpa S

What a pretty big. It almost looks like a lady bug with a special stripe down the middle of its back. I wonder if it is looking for food or for a “fellow” bug to be its friend. Good job again. Keep u the good work!

It looks like you’re working on perspective. I like the way you made use of the design to illustrate that approach. And then you made other smaller designs to fill in the picture, using the perspective. A very good job and the picture really turned out well! Keep up the good work’

What a pretty picture you have drawn of a farm. I see a plowed field with growing crops. There is also an area with a farmhouse, little garden, silo and a windmill. The green field in the middle has a tractor plowing up the ground: I think that I would like to live on a farm like this. You did a nice job. Keep it up, Grandpa S.

This pictures of China is a very thoughtful picture. I like the cherry blossom tree and the Chinese numbers under it. The picture of the temple has been done well with birds flying around it. You are learning new things about other lands and people. This is great! Keep up the good work l! Grandpa S.

Finn, you have such a creative mind. I can’t wait to hear what you were thinking when you designed this beautiful piece. I also would like to know what kind of materials you were allowed to use and have access to in art class. You are such an artist! Love, Gram

When I was your age, I remember going to the beach and seeing all kinds of shells lying on the sand. I liked to pick them up and look them over. Your picture reminds me how pretty they were. Sometimes I would bring them home and save them in my dresser drawer to look at later. The always reminded me of how much I enjoyed going to the beach and swimming there. Your picture reminds me of those happy times. Grandpa S.

Finlay-I loved the theme of the concert and your drawing was amazing. I can tell you took a lot of time to make it. I couldn't find any white paper left as you colored the entire thing!! I am so glad you made me aware of the need to keep seashells on the beach. I had never really thought about it before. You are such an artist! Keep up the creativity! Love you mucho, Grammy

You are very kind to think of them. You will be a good ruler and leader when given a he chance. I love you! Granda S.

I like the clever idea of making a Valentine tree. It’s a unique way of carrying over a Christmas tradition into a celebration of loving and caring about others. You and your sister are very bright and thoughtful. Keep it up as you grow, Love, Grandpa S.

What a pretty leaf! It reminds me that Autumn has just ended and Winter began on December 21, the shortest day of the year. Although it will still be cold, the days will now become longer. Your leaf is also a reminder that the trees are sleeping but will wake up in the Spring and make new leaves. But now is the time for snow, icicles and warm clothes. Love, Grandpa S.

This is really a very pretty picture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Is this where they got the idea for pizzas? I love pizza especially with sausage, black olives and mushrooms. I wonder if olives and mushrooms grow around this tower?
