These Caribbean orchids you drew reminded me when your Aunt Tamra brought an orchid plant home from school that she received. She put me in charge of keeping it alive, which I did through 3 growing seasons even though I didn’t know anything about orchids.

Kaliyah, this landscape reminds me of the Pacific Northwest and Fort Worden State Park where we had our family reunion. It brings back great memories.

Kaliyah— this chameleon project showcases how your artwork has matured over the past. Some of the details that stood out to me included the eye, nose and shyly smiling mouth on the chameleon’s profile. Also how you incorporated a rainbow is remarkable. As always your colors are vivid and your brushstrokes in the blue sky seem to the viewer’s focus to the main attraction—the chameleon. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your artwork! —Pamma

Kaliyah— This work of art by you is one of my favorites. The colors, the swirls, and the pointy patterns around the perimeters give me a feeling of boldness, energetic movement and a bit of an abstract feeling. Love, Pamma

Dear Kaliyah, I loved your last two art projects—the puppet and the Viking ship. It must have been fun learning about those things and then making art from what you learned. Love it. And love you! From Pamma

Kaliyah As always I enjoyed your artwork. It’s interesting that you learned about pagoda style architecture. Your choice of colors was bold. Your choice of setting, including weather and a mountain, made me feel that pagodas have stood the test of time.

Kaliyah—another amazing work of art. You definitely captured the style and colors of the original artist’s architecture paintings while adding your own special details.

I love the rich deep “jewel” colors decorating your elephant. Your drawing of the elephant suggests it’s movement is slow and steady. It’s upturned trunk looks like the elephant is in a parade waving at the spectators. I hope you’ve saved all your drawings because I’d love to see the originals when I visit.

Kaliyah, this is another wonderful art work by you. I looked up Diseños to get an idea of the history of land grant maps in the development of your home state California. Your artistic talents continue to amaze me. Love you—Pamma

I think it’s wonderful you are learning about artists and the countries, like New Zealand, they are from. After looking up paintings by the artist you studied, I can see that you have captured her style; but absolutely have your own style with the colors and art materials you used. I especially like the details of the little sheep and your choices of colors. You are an artist. —Pamma
