Dearest Declan: "Smiling Flowers" is an art form created by a famous artist, Takashi Murakami. Your artistic work looks so much like what he created. Well done in re-creating his style. Loved the colors and that famous "smiley face." Certainly makes you want to be happy and smile the whole day. My hope for you is that you will someday be as famous and successful as Mr. Murakami. Whenever you visit, we would love for you to paint or draw any kind of picture for us. We truly love you and firmly believe you have a special gift. Dear Declan: This animal silhouette you created at school is another example of your amazing artistic skills! A huge shark with a pilot fish, maybe, and that incredible backdrop. Made me feel I was underwater looking up and saw the shark! Yikes! I'd be so scared. You are amazing and so are your wonderful teachers, not to mention your Mom and Dad. Hi Declan! You and I have the same favorite color: BLUE. I learned very late in life that it is a primary color (or maybe I had just forgot that I knew this fact). Anyway, your eyes are a special blue, just like the sky up here in Vermont on a sunny day. Hope you are enjoying school. Declan you are 'the artist extraordinaire.' This creation of yours is just like impressionism. The more I look at it the more I am amazed by the shapes and colors. I loved your rendition of a cat in the mitten! You are a great surrealist! The mitten looks like an owl to me; the cat is sitting on a green object that looks like a boat; and the picture reminds me of the wonderful poem by Edward Lear called: "The Owl and the Pussy-Cat."
