As the artist ushered in the year 2021, she expressed her hope and optimism through this piece. The “lama” looks toward Mars, guided by bright reds and love for what the third decade will bring to the 21st Century. The artist has the confidence to sign the piece with purple in the top-left of the canvas, signaling gratitude for her recent success and good fortune to come.

The artist shows her optimism with the color of hope (purple) peering through a cold, muddy day when mittens are required. The mitten’s green thumb reminds us that Spring will be here soon. We all have days like this and it’s our optimism that gets us through.
