I suspect this is a self portrait. The main thing I dislike about the drawing is all of the heavy shadows on her face, especially the shadows under her checks, on her right forehead, and between her lips and chin. These heavy shadows make Evelyn look older (and more depressed) than she is.

An excellent still life. I very much like how all the petals are different— the shadows on the petals and the shapes of the petals are different. These differences add to the realism of the painting. And the flowers themselves are different. These look like real flowers.

The artist shows good texture variations in this drawing. Without exaggerating the features on the two children, Evelyn clearly shows solemness in the girl’s face and unhappiness in the boy’s face.

This painting shows excellent use of lines created by shapes in the landscape. The eye moves into the painting from the lower left, then across to the left edge of the painting, then across the canvas to the right side, then down the right edge of the canvas and up into the middle of the canvas. Every section of vegetation or landscspe item is deliberately placed to move the eye over the entire canvas. This is not just a boring landscape that has everything running parallel to the edges of the canvas.

Evelyn I LIKE the textures in this drawing. I assume this was only a drawing and that the sculpture of the head you did not create. If the sculpture came from you, I am VERY impressed. What medium did you use to create this drawing? One of your first posted drawings that I saw had a bubble gum jar. I can see here in this drawing you still can display glass very well. This wine glass looks real.

Wow, Evelyn! Looks like you are following in the footsteps of classic Greek art studies with the draped scarf from your previous project and now the man’s muscular back and arms posed for you. I can imagine the model sitting in front of your class! Or did your teacher take off his shirt that day and assume the role of a model from bygone days? Impressive detailed work!

I agree with your mother that the texture on the bear is excellent. But I also really like how you created the illusion of glass on the bubble gum machine. Where did you learn how to create the impression of transparent glass?
