Sami I love this painting of the purple fish! All the different scales are quite beautiful. I’m wondering if you might have seen a fish like this at the aquarium or maybe snorkeling in your cruise.

Fabulous fish Samantha! xoxo

Sami, this cardinal is the best! I love her puffy body, and the way it contrasts with her sharp, pointy tail. It was fun to discover the musical notes on the tree, too. I’m not so happy with the snow, though! The sky color is perfect.

OMG I love this picture so much. If I was sad, this picture would make me happy! My favorite part is the bird; I love its long legs. But the cat is very cool as well...great whiskers. They would make great characters in a picture book! I like your choice of colors. They are all just the right shade - not too dark or too light. The pink is my favorite.

You know I love Picasso, Sami! But I played a game with this picture. I thought that the white drawings on the black background might be parts of a single big picture that would reveal itself as you removed the blue and white squares. I thought I saw the McDonald's M, and an umbrella, so maybe a picture of walking to McDonalds in the rain. The heart is a beautiful shade of red, and I heart you!

Sami, Matisse is one of my favorite artists! His paintings (and yours!) are so colorful and cheerful. I love the colors you selected here, and the way you made the line designs over the colors. But my favorite part of this painting is the way it can look like two things...an optical illusion. At first, it looks like a bunch of flowers in a yellow vase on a red table. But then I looked again and saw a woman with long, blonde hair wearing a flowered hat and a red collared sweater. Did your teacher suggest that you do that, or did you just work it out on your own? You're the best!

I confess that when I first saw this picture, I thought it was a beautiful flower on a string bean! I must have been hungry. I really like your use of color. Cool colors like blue and green are my favorite, and I think your choice of the yellow green for the background makes the snail really pop. The wavy pattern with pinking purple drew my eye to the lower left of your picture, and gave me a second chance to appreciate the entire drawing. This picture was a lot of fun...just like you! Thanks for sharing.

Sami, I love the bug! I like the use of all different shapes and the way the black and white bug pops off the red background. I don't know how you did it, but the way the white is streaked on the purple wings makes them look like they are moving. But the mouth is a little sinister, don't you think?

What a delicate, beautiful butterfly, Sami. The process your teacher described sounds like it was really fun to do. I love the colors you chose. The wings look like stained glass! My favorite color is the green in the bottom circles. I would love a long flowy skirt or scarf made of the same pattern as your butterfly. I love you and miss you very much.

Love this Sami!

I am so happy that your artwork is online again. And what a great way to start out! I like the way you placed the ladder and the photo of you on top so that my eye is drawn to the moon. I also think the pose you have gives the picture movement. I can picture this as a book illustration, with you pointing to the rest of the story. I bet your dad was really proud of you for making such a good illustration for a book about him!

What a unique art piece! It must have been very hard to cut, arrange and fasten all of the colorful, tiny pieces that make up the Love Doggator. I call it that because it looks like part dog and part alligator (but a cute, friendly one). And I can see that you wrote its name down the side. I think your choice of cool colors for the body and warm colors for the ears and legs was really smart; it looks great! I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next.

Sami, both Rich and I spent a lot of time enjoying your animal picture. Rich liked the fluffy tail best, and we both noticed 2 other animals hidden in the picture...a yellow upside down fish, and a red crab. FUN! I liked the way you balanced the warm and cool colors on the diagonal too. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my goodness Samantha - this is beautiful! I just love it! xoxo

Sami, your beautiful picture makes me so happy! The colors are so vivid! And Joan Miro is one of my favorite artist. I think it’s cool that you (a girl) have a nickname that some people think is for boys (Sami) and Joan (a man) has a name that is usually for a woman! I like the way your picture ( and Joan’s ) combine round objects with just lines in unusual ways. You are the best!

Rich and I love this owl! He likes the eyes because he thinks they look like baseballs! I think the eyes are reflecting pine trees. Great artists make things that get people talking, so you did a fantastic job with this piece!

What a cute owl! Great job Sami! xoxo

I love this Sami! It looks like you used one of your favorite tools to do this - scissors!
- Nana on October 7, 2020
I love your painting! I can see lots of different things in it. I see a mad dog (or pig), 2 rabbits looking at each other, and a man with a big mustache and eyebrows. You are very smart and creative to paint such a mysterious, fun picture. I love you and miss you very much.

Oh my goodness! Such a nice creation. I was captured by the image starting with the eyes. Keep up the great work Sami!
