This piece is interesting because at first, from a distance, it looks a little like an x-ray. But up close, you can see the symbols better. Is the bird in the center a phoenix? (I'm not sure if phoenix birds are part of Japanese myths.) I will need you to explain some of the other symbols to me when we have a chance.
