Holy smokes Emma; this is awesome! I love the dragon, the basilisk, and pterodactyl! And how about that title! That is so cool! How did you come up with that? I love that you used reference material to help solve the problem of the basilisk’s tail. All we need now is Vince McMahon to do the announcing!

Who are these little guys!? I’ll tell you what I see: I see a Wisconsin Badger football player, a cheerleader, and a space alien! They’re quite the motley trio! Keep up the good work. Love, Daddy!

YUMMY!! Emma, this looks as amazing as it does tasty! You’d mentioned you wanted to make this look neater, but I think it looks great. Your lines look very clean and crisp. Your swirls look very tight, and the glaze looks quite professional. This looks like a delicious cupcake with blueberry frosting. Keep up the good work, and keep smiling! Love, Daddy.

Emma, this is awesome! I know how much you love blue dragons and this definitely shows that love. What materials did you use to make this mask? Would you consider adding scales or spikes to make it look more fierce? I can’t wait to see it in person at home! Keep up the good work!! Love, daddy.

Emma, do you remember from our conversation how much I love this piece!? It’s so simple and so pretty! Did you make it as a decoration or did you make it to actually be used? You did such a good job glazing it, I bet you could use it if you’d like! Would you like to give it a try? You’re an amazing artist! Love, daddy

YUMMY! Emma, this donut looks delicious! I know how much you love donuts (me too!); you must’ve drawn upon all the donuts you’ve eaten as inspiration for this piece. We looked for it at parent/teacher conferences, but unfortunately we didn’t get to see it live. Can’t wait to see it when you bring it home. Keep up the creativity! Love, daddy

This one is interesting! Are these self portraits or someone you know? One side looks like a marker drawing and the other looks like a collage. I would really like to know what the assignment was here and why there’s a division between the two portraits. I like how the left side is winking; they’re both very happy! Keep up the good work and creativity! Love, Daddy.

Emma, these are great color wheels! Have you ever seen light reflecting through water/raindrops? This is what this piece reminds me of. They could also be pretty rainbows or color wheels you see in paint stores. Very cool! Love, Daddy.

Emma, this piece is awesome! You’ve definitely captured what it means to be in a winter wonderland. Everything from the gingerbread man (Is he holding a cookie shield!? Is he a gingerbread knight?), to the snowflake, the reindeer, and even the cool blue/gray sky gives me the chilly shivers! I love it! Keep up the amazing artwork, and keep smiling! Love, Daddy.

Wow, this is unique! This is a very versatile piece. I could see it as a Valentine’s Day decoration or an inspiring gift for someone with the ‘ray of sunshine’ through the center. I could also see it on a cover to a metal album! It’s very metal!! Amazing work honey! Love, daddy.

Emma, I love this piece. I’d mentioned before I love the look of black and one color; especially when that color is bright and bold! Your choice of where to add the color along with the black shoes a great eye for design. The middle of the square, the center tic-tac-toe piece, the ring of the circle stamp; all very designy choices. It reminds me of a 90s style magazine backdrop. Very cool!! Love, daddy.

Emma, what a beautiful collage! It looks like you cut out shapes from existing pages or pictures and incorporated them with your own artwork. Is this true? I like how most of the elements are surrounding the zebra piece, drawing your eye towards them. The heart shape also has eyes looking at the zebra piece. Is the zebra piece the focal point? Keep up the good work! Love, daddy.

These look like superheroes!! You know how much I like comic books and superheroes. Is this a team of heroes? Or is this a hero with a couple of villains? Can you think of a back story behind these characters? I would love to hear it if you do!! Keep up the amazing work and imagination. Love, daddy.

Emma, this is a wonderful piece! This reminds me of a night sky with a full moon. Even though the colors are cool colors, I feel warm; like a hot summer night. It reminds me of when we went camping last summer during the full moon with critters and animals, walking around; silhouetted by the moon’s glow. What a wonderful image! Keep up the good work. Love, daddy.

Emma, your artwork always makes me smile! I truly feel you’ve grown immensely as a artist this year. You have a knack for seeing detail and value and getting down on paper isn’t always easy, but you do it!! That’s fantastic! Keep up the good work and never stop loving the world. Love, daddy.

Emma, this piece definitely makes me smile! Even though she has teeth, and the piece is called ‘Monster,’ she makes me feel like she’s a monster buddy. I also feel that with her eye placement, that she’s a giant monster blob! What fun! She seems like she’s having a good day out in the summer with all of the bright colors. I feel like you really enjoy using the art crayons! I love your imagination and creativity Emma. Keep up the good work and keep smiling! Love, daddy.

Emma, this piece absolutely blows me away! When we talked about this piece, you told me all about the horizon line you drew and using the moon as a light source. These are very advanced concepts. You also told me that you needed orange to paint your pumpkin, but since you were only given red and yellow, you mixed up orange yourself! What a creative solution! I also see design elements in this piece since your leaves and pumpkin all overlap; they aren’t just placed on the page. I think what astounds me the most is your understanding of light and shadow here. You knew to have the light side of the pumpkin facing towards the light of the moon. I’m not sure if it was intentional or not, but I see a definite core shadow on the pumpkin, and I also see the colors from all of the different elements cleverly used throughout the piece. That was something first used in renaissance painting! I truly feel you are an attentive and very instinctive artist. I’m so proud of you! Keep up the good work! Love, daddy

Emma, this is a wonderful piece! I love every part of it. Black and white with one additional color is always so bold. The black carries a lot of weight with the piece, but never throws the piece out of balance. There’s a lot of movement within the white components; almost like a music video, but nothing about it is distracting. The black components keep the busy white components grounded. It’s a very advanced piece! I’m very proud of you!! Love, Daddy.

What a wonderful piece! Not only is your kitty cat beautiful, but I feel like your more comfortable with this medium than most of the other mediums I’ve seen you use. Interestingly, it reminds me of a Mayan statue! Keep up the good work, and keep smiling! Love, daddy.

Emma, I LOVE this piece. Even though there’s a sun, I’m reminded of a fantasy castle at night!! Maybe in this mystical land, the sun shines at night...! I love your artwork. Keep smiling! Love, daddy.

Emma, I love this piece! I think this is my favorite piece of your artwork. Your baby shark has so much life and character. I could see this little guy as a character in a cartoon! Keep up the good work and keep smiling! Love, Daddy.
