Oh, Sarinah, what lovely Mariposas! The contrast of the freeform background and detail of the actual butterfly in the upper that is switched in the lower is what makes it so intriguing!

What a beautiful Monarch butterfly! We have those in our backyard in San Diego. You've captured the color details perfectly!

Further celebrating California! Amazing colors on that Monarch (am I right!? I think that is the name). He stands out against the green water color wash. So much detail on that lovely butterfly! Well done, Sarinah.

What an effective ad! I want to drink the orange juice and eat an orange!! You’ve made the context of farm land, mountains, and gorgeous sky in a way that enhances the oranges. What skill you are learning! Gramma

What a beautiful choice of colors, especially because they are in my palette. Is it a color wash of water color? I wonder if you named it “Leaf”? I also wonder if that leaf lives in a tree near your house. Well done.

Exotic! There is a mystery and power in this colorful woman. I’m going to say she, because that is my vib, she looks like someone I would like to know. Applause to the various color techniques. I absolutely love seeing your art! Grandma Joanne

Wow, I want to read your story!!! I hope you can send it. How does the sky provide an answer? What is she escaping? A dove (bird) messenger? Treacherous weather? The skill in putting this together looks impressive. Well done!

What?! Is this a sculpture (an amazing shape) or a painting (incredible colors)? This iridescence is stunning and the colors magical. You’ve created art that matches the limitless beauty of nature - like a sea creature shell. The subtle shadow adds depth. This is pure beauty!

Sarinah, I like all your artwork specially this heart-shape with multi-color, realistic looking flowers. I see that you are progressing to more advanced drawings each year. Keep up your love of artwork! Best wishes!

Sarinah, I’d love to hear your inspiration for this cute teddy bear. Clearly it is winter, and in your geography, there are green trees, too. Sweet! The detailed clothes are wonderful, especially two sizes of hearts. The tone is one of HAPPINESS.

What wonderful colors that you repeat from person to the background. Each facial feature is defined and interesting. It made me wonder about thoughts percolating inside that mind. Thanks for sharing your artistic journey!

Sarinah, what a special heritage flag! Family represents so much love, togetherness, and the line of people from whom you come. The vibrant green spoke of growth and aliveness. I’ll bet your scholarly project was equally moving. Well done!

Wow! That screams Van Gogh (and a nod to Norwegian artist Edvard Munch- pun intended). Just love the vibrancy and movement of this. Your discipline of "practice" is paying off!
Posted 3 years ago by Aunt Linda

Such vibrant colors! Does that reflect your beautiful California landscapes with sand, wind, and water? You’d make Van Gogh proud.

Great work! I really liked the shape. Practice is a great intention- no matter what you are practicing, you will get better. ??

Practice. What an inspiration. I will hold that intention with you this year as you apply, improve, learn. I especially liked the playful ‘t’. Here’s for a fabulous school year!

Magic! You’ve made the lights glow and even the mountain too snow looks alive. You must have used chalk, right? I’ve never seen Northern Lights but have friends who lived in Idaho and could see them from their country side. Your art makes me hope I can see them sometime - maybe with you! That would be magic, too. Well done!

Whoa! Some philosophers said eyes are a window into your soul. Your beautiful detailed eye speaks to me of peace, awareness, and sturdiness. Thanks for sharing what you saw as you examined your beautiful brown eye, and for letting me see you.

Whoa. A skull that isn’t scary! I wondered if that was part of a cultural study for Day of the Dead. The skull shape is so beautiful and the intricate details make the appeal. Your color choices are terrific. Well done, Sarinah!

You’ve made still life come alive! What vitality. While I’m attracted to the color, my subtle favorite is the delicate black line that defines each piece. My subtitle is “:spring’s kindergarten flowers”. Wonderful.

I, too, love the use of flower cutouts in the background and how you made the eyes the focus. You look beautiful in springtime!

Terrific self-portrait. The flowers as background speak of your creative spirit. My absolute favorite are your expressive eyes. Would this inspire you to do a self portrait every few years so you could watch your develop and unfold? I’m so happy to see your art. ??
