Hi Sweetheart WOW! This artwork certainly is different, and that is a good thing because you should explore different venues and not be stuck in a rut with the same type of artwork all the time. I like this one as it is different and you did a good job. The first thing that struck me when I saw it is that you had not done anything like this before, and I liked it immediately. The shape, details on it, size, and appearance were very impressive to me and seemed to be well-thought out. GOOD JOB! Love you, Umma

Great job on the paper mache! It is evident based on how smooth the paint adhered to the surface. It's a really neat piece! :)

Hi Kayla, I can't wait to hear about your field trip to the MFA! I think the first time I went to the MFA was on a field trip too; in 10th grade, and we went to to see the largest touring Monet exhibit at that time, in particular. Not sure if you are familar, Monet is an impressionist painter most notably known for paiting the same things at different times of day, since the positioning of light and shadows weighs heavily in how we see things. Monet painted water lilies and haystacks, among other things. Anyhow, back to Egyptian art! First, did you pick out the fucshia backdrop? It's a hot color this season. I love the colors you chose and the mummy has a great silhouette. This reminds me of a song I heard recently about a Mummy, performed by Josh Ritter. Great work!

This was one of my favorite art assignments when I was a student. I love stained glass, and closely related...the Arts & Crafts movement circa 1905 -1930. If you haven't learned about that yet, I am sure you will learn about in school, and if not, I'll tell you all about it!

Hi Kayla, It's been a while since I visited this website! :) Funny, the inspiration for this artwork is Klee. I have a copier/scanner in my office named 'Klee' - since I work at a company founded by and populated with a lot of math minded MIT folks. I love the colors here, and the bounderies created with the black symbols. It's a very pretty picture - I think it should be in a frame and on a wall for many people to admire and appreciate. :)

Wow Kayla! First, I think you have a wonderful art teacher who exposes you to a variety of mediums and Art movements. Second - you are a very talented artist - in all the mediums I've seen you work in. Third, I think this piece is beautiful - you did a great job with the assignment and in creating a great work of art! Keep up the good work! xoxoxo Mary Ann

Hi Kayla - nicely done! I really like the triangle detail. It really pops and makes you wonder if the piece has green triangles on red paper or a red circle with triangle edges. Great work on the feather details too! Love Mary Ann

Hi Honey, What wonderful artwork you did. This looks like a professional artist painted the piece. The horse is wonderfully done as well as the markings around it and the feathers look like real Indian artwork. Great job. This is wonderful artwork and I'm so proud of you. Love, Umma

WOW, Kayla, your monster sure is scarey. I'd hate to see that in the forest - it would scare me to death!! You did a great job in planning such a terrible creature. Your colors are dark - just like the night when you would see such a horrible monster. I hope that, even though he looks like a bad monster, that he really is a good monster (something like Shrek)!! I love you. Umma
