Hi Luke, I’m so glad to see your portfolio this year. This piece is especially detailed. I wonder how you decided on all the similar but unique decorations. Super job.

I really like this portrait! It’s very colorful but yet his expression is kind of sad. Is this someone you know or yourself? Or is it just a mask? But whatever it is I like it! Keep doing artwork! You are really good!!

This pic really makes me smile. Who would think of putting faces on buildings? You would, that’s who! That’s what creativity is all about.

Most artists would make the plant colorful and the background not so much. You did just the opposite and it’s really effective! The leaves really stand out! You must’ve planned it that way. You think like an artist - because you are an artist! Keep up the great work!!!

Dear Luke, I think your your still life art piece is great, especially using the negative space technique! You have learned so many artistic ways to create texture, depth and size on a flat surface that turns it into 3D. Keep going, you are so good and getting better!

You are so creative. The white light around the flowers looks like a light is shining in the background highlighting them. The colors you use are original too. Keep creating art!

You are an artist Luke! I love that butterfly! Is that your favorite animal? If not what is. I’m painting a lot of animals but haven’t tried a butterfly yet. You’re good at whatever you do!

Dear Luke, you brightened up my day when your butterfly drawing showed up on my email! Cheer-y. Looks like a color wheel design hunting for spring. You do beautiful work. Love Grandma D

Hi Luke, This Piece is so interesting because of the contrasting colors with the black detail. Is this a paper cut technique? I really like it. Did you draw your person first and then cut, or was that done freehand? Keep drawing and doing art. It is a wonderful way to express yourself. Love

I hope you keep making art because you are very talented! Is this a self portrait ? It looks a little like you. If it’s from your imagination it’s a creative portrait!

I love this! You even have the northern lights in the background! Did you ever see the northern lights or is this from your imagination? I know your imagination is fantastic. Keep creating and sending me pics. Love them and you!!! Grandma K

Every time your school posts a new art work of yours I’m ‘blown away’. You are so talented! I hope you continue with your art or however you express your creativity. You go Lucas!

Dear Luke, I love your interpretation of the Creation story. Did you read it or listen to it. Your picture shows lots of details. Very focused! You chose beautiful contrasting colors. Great job. Love, Grandma D

Hi Luke! This is so striking- the bright background and stark landscape. I see distance in your piece. I wonder where you got the idea to give perspective to the trees and make them appear that they are on a cliff overlooking a valley. Or at least that what I see. You are a wonderful artist who sees the world in a beautiful way. Don't stop. Love you!

Luke - I know you’re a good artist and I love the way you use color! Most people would use lots of red making a heart but you used orange and green. That’s so original! Keep up the great work!

Dear Luke, I really love this colorful heart! Is this paper construction in two parts? Quite unique and very much “you!” Love, Grandma D

This pic made me go and make myself a cup of coffee. I could smell it just looking at your picture! But for you maybe it’s hot chocolate
Posted 3 years ago by Kristin

Hi Luke, your picture of hot chocolate even makes me feel warm on this very cold day. Did you know that you can feel lots of things through art. The colors you chose are very fun and warm. Nice job, kiddo!

Dear Luke - I know you are a good artist. I like the way you made reflections of the buildings in the water. What a clever idea! Did you ever go to the art museum in Minneapolis? I bet it’s pretty cool! Maybe we could go next time I come to Minneapolis. Love you! Grandma K

Dear Luke, you are showing how well you understand perspective and contrast! Looks like your home is a castle! Using opposite and complimentary colors make your drawing pop. Great job. Love, Geandma D

I love the colors you used! I wish you could tell me the story this picture tells. Are those boats on a lake? I’ll see you for Thxgiving and maybe you can answer. I hope I can see other pictures you’ve made! You are a really good artist!!

Dear Luke, even before I saw the assignment title I said, “That’s Luke! I can tell by the look!” Am I right? The colors you chose are wonderful. And I finally saw your name! I knew it was you. Good job! Keep it up!

Dear Luke, this piece is so big and sunny, just like you. You must have used different materials because it looks 3-d on my phone! That’s amazing. You continue to express yourself beautifully in your art-like Uncle Jeff. Love, Grandma D

Dear Luke, the bowl of flowers is bright and bold, just like you. I especially like your design on the vase. So springlike. We need that now. Wonderful job. Love, Grandma D

Dear Luke, your painting reminds me of geodes in a container. I can hear you say, “Grandma! That’s not it.” Isn’t it interesting to see how different people see the same thing differently. That’s called interpretation. I will love to hear your interpretation! Love, Grandma D

Dear Lucas, Your snowman is epic! He really fills the page. I especially like his shy, or maybe sly, smile. What media did you use? Watercolors? Chalk?I'd like to know. Keep up the wonderful work in Art and all your classes! Love, Grandma D

Dear Lucas, Your cat has very expressive eyes and the bird feathers make a very good “multi-media “ drawing! Super start to a good art year. Love, Grandma

Hi Lucas Your color combo of red and green makes your whole picture look distinctive. Bold. The small objects really stand out. I like it. If you give your picture a title, what would you name it?
