Zeke, this aluminum mask is very cool. It reminds me of a fierce monkey, ready to attack if anyone bothers his friends, family -- or bananas! Continue your creative creations. I enjoy seeing your artwork. Love, Grams

Zeke, This winter scene viewed through a window with stained glass edging is beautiful! I enjoyed seeing it as a whole, then finding the little drawings you embedded. Love, Grams

Dear Zeke, This design is beautiful and includes all my favorite colors. I like the way you combined straight lines set at angles with shapes that are set at anglesirregular circles. This combination of images looks active and interesting. The falling snowflakes make it perfect for Michigan winter! Love, Grams -- Grandpa Dave is ordering me a t-shirt with this art on it :-)

This image is BEAUTIFUL! I see a deer or reindeer in mystical starry light. FABULOUS! Live, Grams

Zeke, I see the image of a bear (the mask) looking at us while hiding in a snowy landscape (the droplets and sparkles with the grey/white color) in the woods (the evergreen tree). Beautiful imagery and a little bit scary. Nicely made! --- Love, Grams

This still life is really detailed and lifelike -- I'll bet you put a lot of time and effort into it. Great work, Zeke!

Wow, Zeke -- this pumpkin patch looks like it stretches out as far as the eye can see! Did you know that the first person to draw with perspective was an Italian architect named Brunelleschi, more than 700 years ago? Great work, Zeke!

Hey, Zeke! Not only is this an excellent color wheel -- it would also make the happiest, brightest umbrella I've ever seen. I'd go to the umbrella store and buy this one right away. Beautiful work!

Hey, Zeke! This work of stitchery reminds me of a whole group of artists called the surrealists, whose work was designed to give its viewers a fresh look at everyday scenes. Maybe the next time we talk you can tell me about some of the details. Very interesting!

I agree with Grandpa Dave! These bright red cardinals flying among bare branches with a snowy sky behind them are a perfect holiday picture. We will use your artwork for our Christmas card next December. -- Love, Grams

I agree with Grandpa Dave that this piece of art by you, with snowy skies and bright red cardinals on bear tree branches, would be a fantastic Christmas card. I will order a box of these to send next December. Nice work! -- love, Grams

Your heart inscribed "GOAT" made me smile. I think YOU are the Greatest Of All Time at anything you attempt, and a lot of fun to be around. No wonder everyone wants to be Zeke!
Posted 3 years ago by Grams
With its cool winter background and the bright red of the cardinals' feathers, this picture would make a wonderful Christmas card. The scene reminds me of the bird feeders Grams put out to attract cardinals to our balcony. Great work, Zeke!

Wow, Zeke! I'll bet if Picasso saw this picture hanging on your wall, he'd say "Gee, I don't remember drawing a snowman. But it looks like I did a pretty good job!" Isn't it interesting how many different ways artists have of seeing the world we live in? Excellent imaginative work, Zeke!

Wow, Zeke! The colors and glazing on this pot are so beautiful, it looks like a polished piece of agate from your rock collection. If you don't mind, I'd like to put it on my bookshelf so Grams and I can look at it. Great work!

Looks like this bear has the flashiest Christmas sweater ever! Does it glow in the dark? Great work, Zeke!

This spooky owl print is just in time for Halloween. I especially like that ghostly white owl inside the tree. Good work, Zeke!

This giraffe really IS sassy! The brown and tan giraffes Grams and I saw in Africa would be jealous of this guy's bright reds and greens. Way to go, Zeke!
Posted 4 years ago by Grandpa Dave
Wow! This looks like one of the abstract paintings Grams and I have seen in museums. Is this the picture of a happy person or a sad person? I could see it either way, since the colors are quiet and subdued, but he has a pleasant expression. Well done, Zeke!

This piece has so much energy that it almost leaps right off my computer screen! I especially like the way you combine white with other vibrant colors to contrast the purple background. Great work, Zeke!

Hey, Zeke! At first I thought this piece was a peacock's tail, but it also makes a wonderful rainbow. The yarn gives it an interesting texture, too. Great work!

Wow, Zeke! This is definitely a scary monster, but it's also a very detailed and intricate drawing. I'll bet it took you a lot of work to make time and effort to finish such a detailed piece of art. Excellent work!

Look at that grin! This Cat in the Hat has some mischief in mind. Great work, Zeke!

Hey, Zeke! That's some good looking stitchery. And this may be only the beginning. Perhaps you'll take up knitting or crocheting and make your old Grandpa a sweater!
Posted 4 years ago by Grandpa Dave
Wow, is this piece really drawn on a sheet of aluminum? What a great idea -- I bet it would make a wonderful decoration to hang on a wall. Excellent work, Zeke!
Posted 4 years ago by Grandpa Dave
There's a lot of energy in this picture, and a great mix of warm and cool colors. It reminds me of a famous artist named Robert Indiana, who made the same kind of picture with the word "LOVE." Everyone had one of his posters hanging on their wall way back when I was in college. Great work, Zeke!

This picture reminds me of an old comic strip called "Peanuts," about a group of kids and all the trouble they got into around their neighborhood. You may remember the play we all saw together a little while ago called "A Boy Named Charlie Brown," all about the characters in the strip. This young lady reminds me of a character named Peppermint Patty. Great job, Zeke! Much love from Grandpa Dave.

This gumball machine is so colorful it makes me want to drop in a quarter and get some gum for myself! If Grams and I had any more space on our walls, I'd get a copy of this picture and hang it up in our house. Very nice, Zeke! Much love from Grandpa Dave!

Once again, your artwork features the skilled use of contrast -- this time between the green colors of summer leaves and the warm colors of fall leaves. It's an excellent combination. Great work, Zeke! Much love from --

This piece is what artists call a "still life." Grams and I saw many of these when we visited art museums in France and Spain. I especially like the way you contrasted the warm colors of the flowers with the cool colors of the vase and background. Great work, Zeke! Much love from --

What a neat combination of stars and pumpkins! I'm sure that Vincent Van Gogh would hang this piece of art up on his wall. I don't know if I told you this, but "The Starry Night" was one of your Dad's favorite artworks when he was your age. He even had a poster of the painting up on his bedroom wall. Great work, Zeke! Loads of love from --

Hey, Zeke! Grams and I just got back from visiting another country, Spain, so this art project reminds me of our trip to Russia, where they make Matryoshka dolls. We brought some back for the gals when we visited there several years back, so the dolls might still be around your house somewhere. If you find them you can take them to school for show and tell. I especially like your picture because the different shades of blue and green go so well together. Great work! Much love from Grandpa Dave.

Your picture of Mr. Seahorse looks bright, colorful, and fun! The blue waves look like this seahorse is swimming and splashing fast in the water. Could we keep up with it? I hope we get to go swimming together this summer. Are there seahorses in our local lakes? We will have to find out. -- Love,

This piece of art looks like two views of "Texture Monster." On the left I see him portrayed in paper with his fuzzy, feathery hands, feet and headset. On the right I see him portrayed in paint and crayon. Because he is smiling in both pictures, he looks friendly, not scary. What do you think he is listening to on his headset? Maybe he is listening to music, since he appears to be dancing. You are a great dancer; you could show him some moves! -- love, Grams

This bear looks happy, snug and cozy under the quilt you drew for it. This is just the kind of blanket we need on cold Michigan winter nights. I can imagine the bear sleeping on the floor next to your bed, keeping you company as you sleep. You may want to illustrate storybooks with wonderful drawings like this one. I look forward to seeing more of your pictures! Love, Grams

I really like this winking Valentine cat with the heart-shaped eye. Maybe it would like to be Shadow's valentine! Your creation is purr-fectly wonderful. love, Grams

Br-rr-r! Zeke, this paper and paint picture chills me as I look at it. It looks like a very snowy winter day where these three trees are growing. I especially like the way you present icy details on the tree that is closest to us. Tell me about the blue area behind this tree. Is it an ice rink for ice skating? Or a frozen pond? Or a play area that must wait for warmer days before we play there again? -- Love, Grams

These brightly colorful mittens look perfect for the cold, cloudy and snowy day you portray. My hands feel warmer just looking at your mittens. I think I am viewing the back of the mittens, not the palms. Do you know why I think this? How might you have tricked me, to really be showing the palms of the mittens? Let's play with these ideas on Thanksgiving. -- love, Grams

Zeke I like your colorful robot person. He might have looked scary except that I see he is smiling and he has a big heart. In these ways, he reminds me of you! This could be you in a robot costume for Halloween, or you in your secret identity as Robot Man. Tell me what your secret powers might be as Robot Man, in addition to your delightful artistic talent. -- Love, Grams

This fat turkey looks watchful and concerned because Thanksgiving Day is coming soon. It may want to be invited to dinner, but not to be the main course at that meal! I like the colorful and print tail feathers you created, Zeke. The blue feathers on the turkey's head are a unique touch. Are these real feathers that you added. Very cool. -- love, Grams

I have seen "painted turtles" before. They are the most widespread turtle in the still, fresh waters of the United States. But -- wow! -- this is a "color wheel" turtle. It would make the others jealous of its beautiful color arrangement. Well drawn, Zeke.

Nicely done, Zeke. Looking at this bright yellow pinch pot sunflower makes me feel happy, just like looking at sunflowers that are growing! I enjoy the sunny color. Please tell me what is in your pinch pot to represent the seeds.
Posted 7 years ago by love, Grams
What a bright, pretty sunflower pot. Is this the first pottery you've ever made? I bet you'll make lots of great pottery projects now that you've tried this kind of art. Great work, Zeke! Lots of love from

Halloween is coming, and pretty soon this gorgeous pumpkin will be turned into a Jack O'Lantern. Great work, Zeke! Much love from --

I like this big orange pumpkin with green leaves that you created, especially the way the orange shift from lighter to darker, showing one side is more in the light while the other side is more in the dark. The full moon and twinkling stars in your picture make me eager Halloween night! I hope you can Trick or Treat at our house!
Posted 7 years ago by love, Grams
The weather's getting colder now and we're all think about Halloween. That makes this artwork very timely. Looking at the picture, I can almost hear all the trick-or-treaters ringing my doorbell. Good work, Zeke!

What I like most about this artwork is the bold, vibrant colors you've given the apples. They look real enough to eat! Excellent work, Zeke!
Posted 7 years ago by Much love from Grandpa Dave
These yummy apples look good enough to eat -- right off your art piece! I especially like the apple in the middle that you made by mixing red and yellow paint and adding striping. It looks just like a Cox's Orange Pippen apple (sweet like honey and aromatic with a sharp, refreshing taste) or a crisp and juicy Spitzenberg apple (one of President Thomas Jefferson's favorites) or a sweet, crisp and juicy Honey Crisp apple (one of my favorites). Now I'm hungry!

Zeke, I like the way you used many warm colors and lots of different kinds of lines in your design. I can imagine this piece as a cheerful place mat on our table as we enjoyed a fun meal. Love,

Hey, Zeke! I don't think I've ever seen so many different lines in one picture. And those warm background color make me feel very cozy and happy. Excellent work! Much love from Grandpa Dave

Look at all the interesting line shapes you have created, Zeke! This makes me think of a person's brain with lots of ideas zinging out of it. I am eager to see all of your art work. Love, Grams

What an explosion of happy shapes and colors! This artwork makes me want to jump up and down just looking at it. Excellent work, Zeke! Much love from Grandpa Dave

What a bright, busy drawing! The colors glow and the lines and dots bounce all around the page. This drawing shows a lot of energy, Zeke, just like you. Great job!
