I saw that the theme for this project was Victorian House with Two Moods. I think you captured that by the use of a different color on each half of the house. The brighter red with light in all the windows, a welcoming front door and bright sunshine with blue sky projects a happy, upbeat mood. The half painted brown with darkened windows and dark, bleak sky, project a somber, depressing mood. Maybe that little snowman standing at the corner of the dark half will lighten the mood on that side. (-; Good work Roland! You're tapping into your creative side very nicely!!

I enlarged the picture to take a closer look and was amazed that you used yarn to create the fish, the water and the green lake plants. This is really good Roland!! You even captured movement in the water by the way you rippled the yarn. You definitely have creative talent! I always look forward to seeing your new work.

Wind art...I've never heard of that before. But how cool!! I have seen pictures of wind-swept deserts and the incredible designs that are created. I had never thought of those designs as art, but they are. As I studied this cloth piece closely, it looked like a beautiful deep blue rose. Nice work Roland!!

The first thing I thought when I saw this picture was how one candle flame can light the darkness. The wavy lines around the candle made me think of how many people can be influenced and see in the darkness as the light radiates outward. I know that probably wasn't what you were aiming for, but the wonderful thing about art is that it can inspire different ideas and emotions from anyone/everyone who view the same piece. Good work Roland...you have learned so much in 5th grade.

Water colors are a fun medium to work with! I especially enjoy the colors you used for the poinsettia...if growers could actually create a poinsettia like this, they would make a fortune!! Hmmmm...this artwork will also be in the running for the 2025 Christmas card. (-:

Roland, this is really good! You captured dimension so well...the four skyscrapers look exactly as they would if you had taken a picture with a drone. I think this one may be in the running for my 2025 Christmas card...we'll see what 6th grade brings. (-:

This is a new type of art project and it looks great. I’ll bet this one was harder to do that most of your other projects. This is one of my new favorites!!

Clay is not an easy medium to work with, but you did a great job. I know you like cats so this was the perfect subject for your creation. Is this supposed to be Lucky, Lovey, Nalla or Snoop??? Keep up the good work Roland!!

Roland, this is one of my favorites!! How did you draw/color the flag to make it look like it's flying in the wind??? Just amazing!! I love our country...I love our flag...and I LOVE THIS PICTURE!!! Great work!!

Wow son I love this one a lot. You drew a great flag here and I like how it looks like it’s blowing in the wind. It’s always important to respect our American flag at all times and your drawing is just awesome! Great job bud!

Your Goofy Skull is perfect for celebrating Halloween!! The white rays make the skull look like it's spookily glowing. The eyes and ears say "be careful cuz I'm watching and listening" and those big teeth say "give me candy or I'll bite your fingers!! If this skull came to my door on October 31 and said "Trick or Treat", do you know what I would do???? GIVE IT A TREAT DUDE.....GIVE IT A TREAT!!!!! Happy Halloween Roland!! (-:

The pumpkin was a great choice since it's Autumn and we just visited a Pumpkin Patch. You said the most challenging thing was the illusion. Actually, I think you artistically represented it very well. Focusing my eyes on the picture, I can plainly see the optical illusion. The black rectangles moving from the front (first one), to the last one behind the pumpkin gives the effect of looking down a long hallway. The pumpkin looks suspended halfway down; held in place by the black rods in the shape of an X. You are definitely learning some terrific art methods. Keep up the good work!!!

That is really good son! Looks like a scary cat totem

What a great art project to start your 5th grade year! I also like the colors you chose. I think this was a wonderful example of mirroring...to me, if you folded it vertically or horizontally, the sides would match...not an easy thing to do, but you nailed it!! I need your help finding your name in this piece...I looked and looked but I was unsuccessful. Again, Roland, this is a terrific start to a year filled with artful learning!!

I like this nutcracker Roland...it reminds me of the one I place on the mantle at Christmas. Shading is difficult but I think you're well on your way of learning how to do it. Practice and patience is the best way to improve not only your art, but lots of other things. Keep up your great work!

This was an interesting project. I like how you put the sun in the upper corner and then showed how the sunlight cast shadows off the pumpkins. You continue to develop your artistic, creative nature. You even made the pumpkins appear 3D by drawing in the ribs. This is good work Roland!! Keep learning and creating!!

Hi Roland!! More new art...YAY! You have drawn and colored the leaves of several species of trees...very good!! You mentioned that you didn't care for the purple leaf, but while it may not be purple, this leaf is shaped similar to one on a hazel tree. Keep up the great work! You're getting better and better!!
