Cute little kitty with captivating eyes on vivid blue background.

Very pleasing greens of probable long grass with a patch where no grass is growing, and it is set on the edge of water such as a lake.

A pointillism painting of a sailboat approaching a dock with grass behind it which is near a sandy patch of shore line with deeper water, and a grass island with a tree is showing, or perhaps the opposite shore, just a bit.

A pointillism painting in simple colors and shapes of a sailboat approaching a dock in calm water, with a green hill and blue sky.

This is a scared little black kitten hiding, a design with captivating interest because you can't stop looking at the cat.

Line drawing which could be many things. I think of water flowing over sand, of mountains with sky, of leaves on top of each other. John could make it into whatever he wants by the colors he chooses. it is a beginning.

I love the simplicity of a classic black cat design, with the enormous green-yellow eyes that don't miss a thing. We have a black cat with eyes just like this one.

John's color drawing reminds me of spring: with brown wood of trees, and fresh green of new grass, leaving the neutral paper as is suggesting sand or a path, or perhaps he may choose to color it later. The design does remind me of wood. Colors are fresh and pleasing.

Mixing colors is a very good and important learning experience. I saw more than 35 shades of green this morning when I walked around the yard on moss that has new growth, plus grass, old and new.

Color wheel is useful and basic. It is very good to keep in mind while painting.

This looks like a study which John did while working on his beach scene.

Vibrant jewel tones, lush and elegant. Nice color combination which is suitable for a tile or wall art.

A lovely, simple portrayal of a peaceful beach scene using pointillism. Very good.

I really liked the pointillism demonstration of color. I look forward to seeing John use it in new paintings.

I see anger in this red balloon face with ears. Perhaps it is the beginning of a story with the angry red balloon as the protagonist? Maybe John plans to write a story. I like the design and colors. Clean and positive and attractive. Thank you, John

A unique black and white pot with blue accents. This is a versatile pot which is attractive in its own right, but also an excellent pot for displaying colorful flowers. Red geraniums or tulips would look lovely.

A black and white botanical with bamboo, perhaps a study while he was working his final bamboo painting which is very good.

Looks like a study for his bamboo design, as if he were working out his final design.

An interesting and good design made from alphabet letters raising them from ordinary to stylish design.

Pensive self portrait which I hope he keeps to review when he is 30 or 40 years old to remind him of how he was at this age. Very expressive.

Nice colors- white vase with blue flowers on a red background. Simple design evokes an oriental vasel

I like this bamboo design very much. It is clean and interesting, a good design for a note card, or if expanded, for a fabric. A good design in black, white, and grey, it does not need any color. Good job, John!

Looks like an interesting pot for planting flowers, such as geraniums or tulips. The unusual colors- black outside, white inside would make red or rose-colored flowers look especially nice. A different choice for a flower pot, but it could also be used inside as a planter or in the kitchen.

One point perspective is a good lesson when learning to draw. Here the vanishing point is somewhere behind the bed. I studied drawing at DePauw University many years ago.

I especially like bamboo. The design is strong, and the artwork is varied and creative. It evokes natural growing bamboo rather than stiff bamboo we find in things like fishing poles.

The design is very good. It reminds me of something I might find on a designer silk scarf. I am surprised by John's choice of colors, since it seems to me he prefers the cooler blues spectrum. This same pattern would be good in other colors. Keep up the good work!

Images on my screen are too small to tell for sure what this artwork is. It appears that John drew an image in response to a prompt which is written on the left. If so, it appears that John has drawn many different creative designs for us to visualize what the prompt says.

I am reminded of bugs on the screen. John could have put in more bugs and more colors of bugs. The largest bug looks scary because he seems to be looking at me with fairly intelligent eyes. John should not make his bugs too threatening.

Cars are a favorite theme for growing boys, and mature ones. John has taken his various versions of a car to different places-- Murky, rainy, somber ones as well as sunny, happy ones. Other views seem to be ordinary, daily activities, going about daily errands as usual.

I like the way John has used simple black lines in this artwork to create visual impression that the large T is metal, reflecting light, contrasting with a denser, darker background. He has also created texture on the large T, with different linear patterns on the crossbar and the vertical base.

Drawing exhibits pervasive interest in cars. No surprise, considering his age. Cars are in all sorts of different conditions, but they are doing OK. Lots of lines and coils, blocks and circles. I can imagine rain, bumpy roads, snow, a forest. I suspect John did not intend for it to be that realistic and just drew whimsical cars in whatever setting came to mind.

Wow! Painting evokes a hint of hurricane Dorian, love for many nations, protection of the world on a mountaintop, a rainbow of hope and beauty below a black threat, perhaps pushing aside the black threat which touches on the happy unity of many nations. One could read profound things into this art work which John probably did not intend. Colors are beautiful! Ideas are fresh and creative. I love the brooding color of the ocean with the fresh new green of the land.

Awesome picture. I really like it.

John's design is beautiful, with blues working their way down through the design. I purchased a very nice tee shirt with John's design on the front which I will wear with pride, expecting compliments
