Eva, I meant to ask you last weekend for more info about this piece. Was there a technique or theme you were developing?

You capture the dolphin's curved profile while jumping out of the water perfectly, Eva, and also so with the broken line the dolphin's breaking through the water. Well done.
- Grandpa on March 24, 2024
Hi Eva – I like the sense of motion you have created. The dolphin looks like it is leaping out of the water and has a beautiful arched body. Good job. Love, Grandma
- Grandma on March 24, 2024

I see and feel a contrast between fluid curves and sharp zigzags I like the curves and that there are more of them.
- Grandpa on February 21, 2024
Hi Eva – It looks like you had fun creating this. I like all your different designs and colors and the way you have created balance. It is not easy to repeat designs tucked into each other closely but you have done it. Good work. Love, Grandma
- Grandma(fan) on February 21, 2024
Eva, This piece feels very playful! Was it done in response to a prompt or just for fun? love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on February 20, 2024

Your painting reminds me that the color spectrum is a fascinating thing to think about and witness. Color variations are amazing aren't they. You artfully show color changing along the spectrum. It's pleasing to the eye. I'm not sure why, but I find myself moving from the blue bottom to the top red, not from top to bottom.
- Grandpa on February 14, 2024
Eva, One of my favorite type of yarns is a gradient dye that slowly transitions colors so you can't quite tell where blue becomes purple. This is very soothing to look at. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on February 9, 2024

Eva, This is such a dynamic piece! I love all the shades and sizes, and how the background dots draw your eye to the center. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on February 9, 2024

Hi Eva – I like the way you blended these colors to allow all the different shades to emerge. It reminds me of the colors of a darkening sky at sunset. Love, Grandma
- Grandma(fan) on February 9, 2024

Eva, I love the detail and precision that is emerging in your art. And I recognize these gymnastics posters! love, Mom

Quite creative, Eva, and your use of three dimensional perspective is excellent. Well done

I'm curious what inspired this sculpture, Eva. I'm also impressed with the idea you came up with for the fountain.

Wow, Eva! The detail in your mandala is impressive. I'm also intrigued by the many shapes you incorporated in each layer. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on November 5, 2023
Hi Eva – I think that Mandalas are fascinating because of the concentricness of them and yours is beautiful. I have read about creating them with crochet stitches. I like all the many patterns you chose to create yours. Love, Grandma
- Grandma(fan) on November 5, 2023

Eva, I really like all of these patterns and the way you used different colors to differentiate them. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on April 20, 2023
Color and texture! I'm guessing that you did one block and then found freedom in choosing another color and another design pattern and then moved on to the third and fourth etc. I bet it was fun.
- Andrew(fan) on April 20, 2023
Hi Eva – I like all the different patterns and colors you have included in this artwork. Are these all rubbings? I am looking forward to your telling more about the technique. Good job. Love, Grandma
- Grandma(fan) on April 20, 2023

Love the color. I'm curious if the color used at the center of each determined in any way the other colors.
- Andrew(fan) on April 20, 2023
Eva, I love this color study using different shapes. It was especially fun when it came home and was so large! love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on April 1, 2023
Hi Eva – I am interested in what you were studying that helped you create this artwork. These look like beautiful mosaics that display these combinations of colors. Are these colors opposites on the color wheel? Very nice. Love, Grandma

Wow, Eva! There is so much wonderful detail in this self portrait. You've really mastered drawing a braid. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on February 27, 2023
Hi Eva – I am impressed by this portrait. The detail in the braid is so well-drawn and the shading on the face and clothing and background makes me feel like this is so life-like and this person is staring back at me. Is it a self-portrait? Well done. Love, Grandma

Eva, I really like your jellyfish! There are so many different kinds of lines in your pictures, squiggly lines for the jellyfish and then straight ones creating a pattern on its body. I find my eyes drawn to the bottom where you have skinny lines and black circles setting apart the geometric shapes above. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on February 28, 2020
Hi Eva – You did such a good job following the the suggestions for this artwork. It must have been interesting to learn about the artists and their techniques. Good job. Love,

Eva! I love this!!! It’s beautiful! The colors, all the detail - it’s gorgeous!!!
- Auntie Sarah on January 15, 2020
Eva, this is such an impressive piece of artwork! I love all of the details - like the tree's shadows - and the layers you create. I also love the soft and cheerful colors you've chosen.
- Auntie Anna on January 9, 2020
Eva, This is so beautiful! I love the blues and purples of the sky, and am so impressed by the shadows of your trees. I especially like the bright orange bird adding color to this wintery scene. love, Mom
- Eliza on January 5, 2020
Hi Eva – I looked closely at this amazing picture to see the variety of mediums you used — crayon, watercolor, and collage are what I noticed and I think you may have used some other techniques. I love the colors of the sky and how the stars reveal themselves. The birch trees stand tall and have a depth in this artwork because you painted their shadows on the snow. And the birds pop and add more depth because they are collage. Good job. Love, Grandma
- Wendy on January 5, 2020

Eva, You did an excellent job capturing the components of this assignment - overlapping with the fruit, then light and shadow around your bowl with the watercolor. Impressive! love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on November 24, 2019
That's a very nice still-life, Eva! I bet you had fun discovering what the crayons and watercolors do when you use them together. Nice work!

Eva, This artwork is so beautiful! I was really curious how you were able to create the reflection with different backgrounds and after reading Mrs. Martinez's note realized this was a many step painting. The colors you chose are so deep and really make me think of fall. love, Mom
- Eliza (Mother) on November 6, 2019
Eva, I love the colors you chose for your trees. They look just like the ones I see when I drive down the road. Very beautiful!
- Auntie Anna on November 6, 2019
Hi Eva– This fall reflections artwork you created is beautiful. You captured all the amazing colors leaves turn in the fall. And what fun it must have been to create the symmetry. It makes me wish I had noticed trees turning colors along the edge of a lake or pond more often. Good job. Love, Grandma

This painting has such great energy, Eva! And it's neat that you were learning about the art of Alexander Calder. I always love checking out the mobiles he made when we see them in museums.
