I continue to enjoy your choice of objects, shapes, colors and shading in your still life art.

Your tree is majestic. As you write, trees like yours in the Northwest are core to being individually unique, yet deeply rooted and appreciated by all. Well done!

I can't believe I never commented on this abstract painting of yours since it's one of my all-time favorites. The contrast between orange and bright blue is so arresting and the shapes remind me of kites or other delicate things flying in the air. That's why I've made the art from this uplifting piece my default note cards!

The almost aerial view of the gourds gives this still life a very fresh perspective. I enjoy your elegant detailing of each squash's different shape and color. With its fall-themed subject, this would make a beautiful holiday card!

I can't decipher the text on your beautiful evergreen drawing but I love the idea of combining art with type. And since you live in the land of evergreens this subject has extra meaning. The tree is so strong and dominant and I appreciate the way the sun draws my eye all the way to the top of your composition.

Wow! Your use of lots of bright color in this still life really takes this classic subject to another level of energy and surprise. And the variety of round shapes is very warm and inviting.

I'm loving this still life. I think it's very interesting the way you used shadings to make the green shapes stand out from the green background. And the color palette, fruit and flowers are so lovely--- they remind me of Spring.

I think you have a lovely series starting: your fall still life with pumpkins and now this softly pastel toned spring theme. We await your next choice!

Your eye and your hand in great coordination with these gourds. To see how to first arrange so well and then to draw and color them realistically as well as imaginatively! Nanna

El- There's a design theory that you should only arrange things in odd numbers but you broke that crazy rule wth four beautiful gourds. I love the variety in size, shape and color. And somehow, the way you placed them on the page turns them into one very interesting unit. I think I need a set of new note cards right now. How about you? xoxoMimi

We're loving your beautiful butterfly portrait. It's both realistic but also stylized to have lots of personality. Can't stop viewing it!

Your perspective continues to improve, El! Did you choose the car theme or was it assigned? I think it is a difficult art subject. Keep drawing!! (And every day I see your work on our refrigerator )

I'm really enjoying your drawings which have excellent line and perspective. Cars have so many different details, angles and curves and you've combined them very skillfully. Hope you continue your art class while your learning at home.

Ellie- I can't stop viewing your latest painting of the winter tree. It looks like it came right from Frozen! I love the way you used so many painting techniques and glitter to create the look of a winter sky. The contrast of the stark, dark tree against the soft sky makes the whole painting shivery and very exciting!

This is truly an amazing portrait, Ellie! Is it your Daddy or ?? So impressed, Nanna

El- We love how your use of perspective and shading makes the shapes seem to pop right off the page. It fools your eye in a good way.

Your steady hand, capacity for perspective and shading technique serving you well in this three dimensional exercise, Ellie. Nanna

Your new art project is so strong and interesting. It’s amazing how changing the weight of different areas creates so much power and emotion. I also love that you used my two favorite “colors!”

This is such an interesting art project and I love the way you handled it. It's very surprising to see familiar things in such unexpected colors. It makes the whole experience of your drawing visually stimulating and a little shocking! Those are things that most artists work hard to achieve.

Your watercolor, Ellie, is an Impressionist painting: outdoor subject matter, in the light as you experience it!

Hi Eliot- Thanks for sharing your lastest piece of art work. Love the shape and texture that you created. What kind of clay did you use? Did you paint it or was it fired? So many questions but you know mimi. Can't wait to hear more about your art when we're in Seattle so soon! xoxoxMimi
